So the park is getting a Frog Hopper and the Butterflyer (A kid-friendly version of the S&S Giant Swing.)
Personally I'm fine with it, the last two attractions that were added to the theme park were Aftershock and Panic Plunge...both of them High Intensity attractions (With Aftershock being marked as a "Very High Instensity). So the park needed to balance things out by putting in a couple family or kiddie rides, which is exactly what they're doing.
Now the question is, where are they going to be put? I think they'll be replacing a game or two, they don't take up much space so a game area would be a fine fit.
Oh yes, as for anything big being put in. I'll firmly say expect any new coaster or thrill ride to be part of an expansion.

After so many years of increasing the thrills part of my brain really wants to ask "whats in it for me" with this update but I gotta say its a wise move overall for the park as the kids really do n33d something to do.

I suppose I should add my comments. I think it is a very good decision as there just aren't enough kid rides at Silverwood, let alone kid rides that both kids AND adults can ride together. So from that aspect, it is a good move.
However...I would think after the "biggest, most successful year ever" the park could afford to add at least one flat ride for the big kids out there too. Otherwise, for anyone over the age of 6, it's not going to feel like 2011 is offering much new.

I'm with Bud. I think it's great that they are finally adding some kids rides, but I think (even with the Topper Track for Tremors) if this is all that they are doing after their best year ever, it's kind of a disappointment. I mean...a frog hopper? Those things are literally everywhere...even traveling carnivals and even some video game arcades for crying out loud!
Not complaining about what they are doing at all, please don't misunderstand. These additions are long overdue. I just think they can do better than merely this.
Personally, I think they've still got more up their sleeve, and that this is only the beginning.

I think it's good they're adding two rides geared at the young ones. I do agree they need more flat rides. I was told (from an excellent source) they had purchased a Monster Mouse from Oaks Park a while back but the coaster ended up as scrap. I'm not sure if they intended to buy it for scrap or to use as an attraction. Still researching that one.
I'm hoping (praying) in the future that they'll hire Gravity Group to design a really cool Runaway Mine Train coaster that is aimed for everyone. I think GG would do a great job in coming up with something with tunnels, swooping turns into a water area with spraying geysers, and a bridge that looks like it's going to break. They could have all kinds of fun coming up with western/earthquake themes with this attraction. I think it would definitely compliment Tremors, Timber Terror and Aftershock and look good. (And, yes I have had this planned out since I rode my first GG coaster back in 2005. LOL.)
Anyone know how the zoning is coming along for them to expand the park? I know Gary Norton has a vision of one day building a resort for visitors but that would require current zoning issues to be dealt with.

I think its natural to want more, but this is probably it for this year. Hopefully we get another solid Halloween. They'll probably need a slow year or so to gear up for their next addition since they'd have to really move stuff around to get it all off the ground.

Well the park has announced the two ride on the website. www.silverwoodthemepark.com/newrides.phpThough interestingly enough, they have this at the bottom of the page. "Check back early next year, for we may have even more news for attractions coming in 2011!" Personally I think the extra news is going to be about the Topper Track being installed on Tremors, I wouldn't be expecting any major additions for 2011...though the park has surprised us before.

^Now THAT is good news! Hopefully there is at least one more new ride on its way...and something that us big kids can enjoy...

I think Wolfblood is absolutely correct. I was thinking to myself while reading this thread "has everyone forgotten about Tremors?" until I read his post. That is probably costing as much as both the kiddie rides put together. I would say the smart money is on Tremors track being "even more news for attractions coming in 2011". /edit: I guess Skinnyguy did mention the topper track too
