I like this, but then, I'm a huge fan of Boulder Beach.
All the coaster fanboys may disagree, and don't get me wrong...another coaster would be nice, but anything is better than nothing. It at least shows that the park is continuing to grow and expand.
I also like the mention of the in-park hotel in the article from the Spokesman. That would be great.

the second wave pool and second kids area??? wow. big deal.
they should be adding NEW things...not repeats of the same old stuff they've already got.
other than the raft slide i'm pretty disappointed with this.....................

Hey everybody it's been a while since I posted. I'm happy to hear about the plans. I like Silverwood and the Boulder Beach is one of my favorite parts. I was hoping they might put in a Proside Tornado or something cool like that but the raft slide sounds like a lot of fun too. But will Thunder Canyon suffer from this? Sounds like RCA's interview with Nancy earlier this year was right on the money. Though I've got to say I was looking forward to the "hanging coaster", whatever that is! Maybe in 2008?

I don't know how you could look at this as anything but positive. Any expansion (even if it isn't exactly what you may have personally chose) is a benefit to the park. This will relieve lines in both parks and can only enhance the overall value of the price of admission. I am all for this. Silverwood is obviously doing well. They have added something major to the park the last four years in a row. As long as they continue to profit from this growth, it is only a matter of time before a new coaster is installed. I personally like the fact that they are obviously trying to make Silverwood as well rounded as they can. I still think the next piece to the puzzle should be a nice dark ride but I'll take whatever I can get.

More thoughts on this expansion as it's now settled in...
1) will they add the sand volleyball courts back from the original concept art? 2) what about the chances now of a proslide tornado - dead in the water? 3) how far out is a new coaster now?
Thoughts?

^ I might be overly optimistic, but I could honestly see them putting in a new coaster in '08. I would think a Tornado is probably a good five years or so away if they do install one. As many as have been going in at parks lately, they really don't hold much appeal to me personally.

bud i think you know as well as i do that theres not gonna be a new coaster for a while...this waterpark addition was just the excuse they needed to say that they've done something new and now they need a couple of years off.

Sand volleyball courts? I don't see those in the original concept art plans, but maybe I didn't look close enough. Regardless, I think it would be pretty stupid to do that. I mean, who would want to pay money to go into a theme park to play sand volleyball? I sure wouldn't, especially with everything else there is to do there. Even if they did put them in, with as crowded as that place gets, they'd have to put a ton of them in to accomodate for the people that did want to play.
I don't think a Tornado is dead in the water, but I think it's going to be a while before they put one in. They look really fun, but with all the attention the water park has recieved, I think the theme park is going to get some additions in the next few years. Not sure how close a new coaster is, but I'd think it's got to be sooner rather than later. Like Nancy said, people are constantly requesting a new coaster on their comment cards. They haven't added one since 1999 - soon to be 8 years ago. I think if this next year goes well for them - and it should - a coaster could be added in the next year or two easily.
