I don't want to sound completely negative, but the new drop tower just doesn't excite me at all. Most parks already have these rides, and have had them for years. I'm excited the park is doing something, but I really think they could have done something more unique and exciting. For example, if Silverwood really is trying to bring guests from Seattle...well, there is already a drop tower at the Puyallup fair. There are countless non-coaster rides that you can't find in the NW and Silverwood should focus on something that differentiates the park from the competition like Timber Terror and Tremros do.
Sorry if this rubs anyone the wrong way, but it's how I feel. I don't think Panic Plunge to be a bad idea, I just don't think it's a very good one either.

I do think it will be a good addition to the park, but I think they could have done much better than this.
My first thought when I heard about the ride was "Only 120 feet?? Lagoon's is even bigger than that!!!" If you're going to put in a drop tower, put in a DROP TOWER...something at least comparable to those at other theme parks. I think they should have gone at LEAST 200 feet. I mean, it's only 20 feet higher than Tremors...nothing I'm too excited about, but I am definitely glad that they added a new ride. It's better than nothing.

I'm sure Mr. Norton did plenty of research before adding the ride and felt it was a good way to go. I personally feel Silverwood desperately needed a true thrill ride, and now they have one, so in that respect I think the drop tower was a good addition. On the other hand, I think that if they were set on putting in a tower, then they should have waited until they could afford to put in a tower at least as nice as the one in Puyallup. Although, this thing is so rickety and cheap looking compared with an S&S tower that it may end up adding to the fear factor.
One thing I do not like about any single tower drop ride, is that they are NOT people movers. On a busy day that queue is going to move very slow. They already suffer from slow moving lines on the 2 woodies due to only one train. Personally I would rather see them add another PTC on the 2 woodies before adding any new rides.
But, all in all, I think the tower is a good addition, just not one I am personally all that excited about.

Finally got to ride it last weekend when we were at the park. I was actually suprised. I liked it a lot! It was a lot more intense and it seemed faster than the S&S towers. I liked how you had no warning as to when you'd drop. Very cool! Great addition to the park.
I still think they should have gone a little bit higher though, and I also think they should have added this about 5 years ago. But regardless, I'm happy it's there, and I thought it was a great ride.

^ I felt about the same after ridding it a few weeks ago. I have always liked the Intamin drop tower at Great America better than Knott's S&S tower. Panic plunge reminded me of a shorter version of the Intamin style drops. I also agree it seems fast than an S&S tower, but, it definately isn't. You fall much faster on the S&S as you are not just droped but pushed down. I think they are just so much smoother that it feels slower.
