So....I saw this on Laughing Place, but I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere. Are they really getting rid of the current bobsleds and replacing them with single seat cars? Here's a link to a very blurry image: img.photobucket.com/albums/v26/rich4rich/M01A0277.jpgIf so, I'm very disappointed, but not surprised. It will just be one more piece of Disneyland in the past. I know I may stand alone on th is, but I love Matterhorn, it's one of my favorites, and I have many fond memories of sitting in my parents' lap, or sitting together with my wife on our honeymoon in those bobsleds. If they are changing the bobsleds, no one else will get a chance to experience that. It's just one of those little things that makes Disneyland be Disneyland. Thoughts?

I love the Matterhorn! I do agree with you that it would lose some of its unique quality going to a train like what is pictured but I am not at all surprised. I have wondered for years now how they have been allowed to even operate that coaster from a safety standpoint. The new trains look to be almost identical to the WDW Space Mountain trains. Single seat with a lap bar. This won't be the first time they have changed train types on the Matterhorn though. It ran for over a decade with single toboggans, though you still could seat two people together.

Matterhorn is one of my all-time favorite coasters. I agree that changing the seating and removing the lap seating will take something major away from the fun of the ride. However, I agree with Skylark that for years I've been fascinated how they can run the ride with this type of seating and only a simple seatbelt. Unfortunately, like a good wooden coaster, things change with time and usually get worse. Someday in the future we'll probably be complaining about the fact that they've decided to add OTSR's to Matterhorn. Roller Coasters ain't fine wine.
