I have been thinking about how Main Street doesn't feel so.... Main Streetish. It's like they built out one side and forgot the rest. I feel like they should do more to complete the Main Street feel of it. It is cool having a train running down the middle of it but it seems like it was never completed.
What do you think?

I would love to see Main Street expanded with more shops, etc. but I wonder if the crowds could support it. Of course Disneyland is the ultimate "Main Street" experience but think of how many more people are attending that park each day, year round. I would worry that if Silverwood expanded Main Street, the foot traffic wouldn't justify the expansion. Where I think an expansion could work is in relation to the hotel that they have talked about. Nancy once mentioned in an RCA interview that one vision for this would be an in-park hotel and then they'd keep Main Street open later for people staying in that hotel. That could mean more shops, restaurants, etc. I would love to see a hotel built that is themed to fit in with Main Street somehow. You could walk outside the hotel and enjoy the activities on Silverwood's main street - after hours shopping, dining, movies, etc. I'd pay whatever they wanted for an experience like that.

That would be cool if they put the hotel in the park. That would definitely make main street look more balanced. Either way they need something on the other side instead of just an open shot out to the old runway. Maybe they could take the lawn area and turn it into a "town center". I remember what it was like as a kid when I went to Knott's Berry Farm and being completely immersed in the old west. For that brief time at Knott's I felt like I was in the old west. It was such a great feeling for a seven year old. I felt like a real gun slinger. I want to see more themeing around the park. I want to walk into Silverwood and forget about Highway 95.

I'd pay whatever they wanted for an experience like that. Heck, I'd pay whatever they wanted just to be able to stay that close to the park - that would be awesome! I agree it might be better to expand the Main Street area after a Hotel is built, but I also agree that it is pretty weak as it stands. The gift shops seem really small/crammed, and the sub place used to be good until they changed the menu last year to basically be the same as everything else in the park. I love Lindy's - they need to have more places like that to eat on Main Street and throughout the park. And I think they could do something more with the theater than just show old movies. One thing I thought might be cool would be to have a nice ice cream parlor (like the one at DL) where people could go get some good ice cream on their way out of the park. I ate at the other ice cream shop in the carnival area a few years back, and it wasn't very good. I think a better quality parlor around the main street area would be a big draw. I always stop at the one in DL at least once per trip on my way out of the park. That's just one idea, though. I'm sure there's lots they could do to improve main street overall. I think it's a good start for a "main street" area, and I enjoy walking around it from time to time, but I do think it could use a bit of sprucing up.

doesn't it all come down to demand? If expanding the size of the mainstreet shops doesn't actually increase the amount of people shopping there, then they've got no reason to waste the cash.
I've got to say though if they could put a hotel right on Mainstreet that'd be above what I've seen most theme parks ever do and I'd totally be down for actually staying overnight there.
An Icecream place would also be cool for Mainstreet, I've had ice cream at the carnival area and it wasn't half bad so I guess my experience was different then others? I'd also like to see more restaurant options go up but I'm curious how that'd mix with the rest of the offerings in the park. Seems like they should add a few more slow family rides before building a restaurant in between them since most people aren't going to want to ride something that spins them around too much after a nice meal.
I definitly wish for better theming around the entire park. Both to remove a bit of the overly carny theme in some areas and often to, as others have mentioned, forget the highway

Even if they don't add or expand stores I would like them to build out Main Street to look more like a town. You could put vignettes in the windows of the buildings to make it seem like there is something going on inside. Perhaps have one building look abandon and spooky.
But the key here is theming.

Silverwood's Main Street area should be as big as Disneyland Resort in California.
