It's nearing the end of March and still no word on the new name for the new roller coaster. I was under the impression that they were going to announce it in March. Are they dragging it out to the last minute or do you think they ran into a snag?

Hey everyone, Silverwood has announced the name of their new coaster! It will be called: "Aftershock". We'll put up the press release announcing the details and contest winner this evening...you'll be surprised where the winner resides. -Mike & Chris Roller Coaster Alley

Dang! So much for my season pass. I get the feeling that the winner isn't going to get much use out of the season pass. After seeing where he is from I think he should donate it to me!

I was really hoping for a North West themed name and we get "Aftershock" which seems very generic to me.

I actually like the name, I think it's quite fitting since Aftershocks are what can come after the start of a Earthquake. (Which not only works well for a boomerang coaster, but also with the location of it being behind Tremors.) Not to mention I've seen far more generic names that are much worse. For example, Cedar Fair renaming all their Drop Zones to "Drop Tower" and most of their Top Guns to "Flight Deck"...uggh.

Re: Monkeybeast I can see that it's not really Northwest themed, although those who were in the 2001 Nisqually earthquake in Seattle may disagree! But the name does kind of go right along with "Tremors". That and it kind of fits with the boomerang type of ride in that an aftershock is in a sense a repeat of something that just happened. I don't think it's as fitting as "Boomerang" or "Deja Vu", but it kind of fits. Really, I don't think it's that bad of a name. I actually hated the name "Panic Plunge" when it was announced, and I've always thought "Avalanche Mountain" was a weird name for a water slide that you go on during the summertime. I think this is one of the better ride names they've come up with in the past few years!

Well, it's not a BAD name in my opinion, but it's pretty cliche. Typical coaster name: exciting, trendy, dangerous sounding. Pretty much what you'd expect.
I agree a more NW-themed name would have been better but Silverwood doesn't exactly have a strong track record of naming rides.
It is what it is. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. And at the end of the day it's just a ride name. Nothing more.
