I am new to the Northwest. We came from Florida. Needless to say, the ethnic makeup of the NW population is dramatically different from FL. So, I was wondering... is the Silverwood visitor population very diverse?

^Honestly, no, it is not. Silverwood is in a pretty rural area. Even Spokane isn't that large of a city. You really have to go as far as Seattle or Portland to find a very ethnically diverse population. Silverwood does get visitors from Portland and Seattle (I live in Portland and visit with my family every year) but on most days, the vast majority of people there are locals.
However, I would try to not let this discourage you. I have always found the people there to be extremely friendly compared to most other theme parks (I have visited parks in most parts of the country) and it truly is a great little park in a fantastic setting. Northern Idaho is a very beautiful place and worth a visit all on its own.

Well put, Skylark. Silverwood does get mostly locals, but that has never bothered me at all. It's always stuck out to me as having one of the most family-friendly atmospheres outside of Disney parks, and is a great place to go.
I will also second your comment about northern Idaho...it's a very beautiful place to go. I love the mountains and all the trees in the surrounding areas...the view from the top of Panic Plunge is always amazing.

He jmarie welcome to the boards!
I'll echo the comments already made. Silverwood has probably the friendliest staff (outside of a Disney park) that I've ever seen anywhere. Great people. Good location.
The diversity of guests? Depends on what you mean by diversity. I see a very diverse crowd in terms of urban and rural visitors, as far as different social classes (upper, middle, and lower). Silverwood draws bigger crowds every year and by sheer numbers you're going to get a more and more diverse group of guests as more and more people visit.

When I worked at Silverwood a few years back it seemed most of the guests were locals, either from Northern Idaho or Eastern Washington. It was a little diverse but not a whole lot. There were always lots of Canadians though.

Is Silverwood Idaho's most major amusement park? I know Idaho's population is just over 1 million but or is there another more major amusement park in the state?
Kings Dominion is in a rural area (Virginia's Countryside) but it's one of the 2 major amusement/theme parks in the state about 20 minutes away from Richmond and attracts people from mostly Virginia (obviously), Washington DC, Maryland and North Carolina. VA's population is close to 8 million (7.7 million). Big compared to Idaho's but small compared to California's. x]

Silverwood is Idaho's only theme park. I've been to KD and it is not rural at all compared to Silverwood. Silverwood is literally out in the middle of nowhere surrounded only by forest and mountains. Northern Idaho is nothing like Virginia. Virginia is beautiful in its own way, just very different from the Pacific Northwest.

Welcome to the boards kdaddict.
I will agree with Skylark here...the location of KD is NOTHING like the location of Silverwood.
KD is away from major cities but is still in "civiliation" as I would define it.
Silverwood is in the middle of NOWHERE. Picture driving for miles and miles away from anything - any houses, any stores, any development of any kind. To the end of the earth. Like what everyone imagines the Alaskan Wilderness to be. Nothing but mountains and forest as far as you can see in every direction. Miles from civilization.
Now throw a theme park in the middle of that.
That's Silverwood.
