Went to Silverwood on Saturday August 6th. Weather was warm (mid-80's) with a fairly consistent wind throughout the day.
Boulder Beach was packed to the brim. I can see why SW is expecting another record year of attendance. Ricochet Rapids is fun but the wait was 1 hour long and that was less than 1 hour after opening. NOT worth the wait at all. They should have designed this to have double-sided loading like Avalanche Mountain. Also they should load more into the tubes on this ride. It can't possibly be putting stress on the slide like Avalance does, so they should be able to send it down with 6 adults. The line would move much faster if they would get more efficient with filling up the tubes.
Speaking of Avalanche Mountain, it was about a 15 minute wait and now that I've had time to compare I can say that it is FAR BETTER than Ricochet Rapids. That is not to say Ricochet is a bad slide - it is a lot of fun. But Avalance is just much better with all of it's twists and turns. Ricochet has a nice beginning but after the half-pipe you just sort of wander meaninglessly down the rest of the darkened tube with no real thrills.
The park looks great as usual. The two wooden coasters are still ridiculously slow at loading/unloading and need another train. (Has anyone ever mentioned this before?) As has been mentioned before, the re-tracking on Tremors has put this coaster back in my Top 10.
The two new kiddie rides were a big hit with my two kids. They wanted to ride them over and over again. Good additions, even if they aren't geared toward me.
The park is getting too crowded. They need to consider a major expansion. Not just one or two rides. This place could add 4 or 5 and it still would need more. New flat rides, a dark ride, and a family-style (mouse or spinner) coaster would be excellent.
Overall a great trip. The park gets better (and more crowded) each year!
