Our trip to Silverwood went well. We started off at Boulder Beach. I was amazed at how crowded it was for a Wednesday. We couldn't find any chairs to put our towels on so we found a spot on the lawn. The lazy river was packed but we still were able to float along and have fun. The wave pools were perfect. The addition of the second wave pool was a smart move.
The new slide, Ricochet Rapids, looked like a lot of fun and from what we heard it was. However, at one point the line for it was an hour and a half wait. The line for Avalanche went a lot faster so we rode that one. While Avalanche has two loading areas, Ricochet Rapids only has one.
The kids were eager to go ride rides so we left the beach and headed over to the main park. The boys really enjoyed the new additions to the kiddie area. My boys would not stop ridding the Frog Hopper.
Silverwood redesigned the kitchen area in the magic theater. I'm guessing so they can make it darker in the theater. No more beer on tap either. It is all in plastic bottles now.
Riding Old Number 7 is always nice towards the end of the day.
While riding the train I noticed a huge pond between the runway and the Norton's house. I hadn't noticed it before. When I asked about it I was told that this is their personal pond and they sometimes ride jetskis on it. The other thing I noticed was that they were doing a lot of digging on the backside of the route near the tracks. I wonder if they are getting ready for Scarywood?
I also had an employee tell me that Silverwood is gearing up to start having events in the winter. He didn't really say what they would be but I wonder if it will be like a Kris Kringle Mart similar to the one I went to in Nuremberg
www.christkindlesmarkt.de/english/index.php?rid=2The AfterShock load times were sad. I have to agree with Incoasters about the inefficient loading. They spend way to much time checking and double checking for safety. If the coasters are so dangerous that they require that much time then I would think that perhaps they need to rethink the design.
We had a great time in the park. We were disappointed that the height requirement for the Battle Boats was 56 inches! My son has been wanting to go on them for a few years. The requirement use to be a lot shorter and my son had just reached that height when they changed it to 56". This year he felt that he had finally grown enough to make it but alas, it was not meant to be. I asked the ride op why they changed the requirement and he said it had always been that tall. I pointed out it was changed about a year or so ago and then he said, "well, ya, but it has been the same since."
We did run into one employee that was less than happy to be working there. She was running the Tilt-a-Whirl and she was in a foul mood. She was ragging on everyone and anyone that she felt was not 100% obeying the rules. Any kid that might have climbed on the fence in the cue felt her wrath and don't even think about wearing anything that seemed like a bathing suit. We walked by there a few times and each time she was yelling at someone. She must have worked as a lifeguard for the YMCA at some time in her past.
Other than that though, the employees seemed very nice. True to the warnings Thunder Canyon will soak you! Good to ride it early so you have plenty of time to dry.
The landscaping was really nice! Silverwood is doing great at making the park look nice. For the first time I got to walk back in the picnic area and was impressed at how nice it looked and how relaxing it was back there. I'm not sure if I was allowed back there but I walked through the gate to take a look and liked what I saw.
Over all I had a great time and look forward to going back. I can't wait for Scarywood and what might lay ahead for the winter!
