Hey there everyone, it looks like Silverwood just posted it's schedule for this year. www.silverwoodthemepark.com/schedule.phpNot surprisingly, they've added more dates and longer hours for Scarywood. As of now it'll run every Friday and Saturday in October from 6pm to 12am. This is very much appreciated especially if it turns out there will be new attractions for the event, though right now we will have to wait since they haven't posted this years info for special events yet.

I think it's great that Scarywood hours will be going until midnight this year. But I gotta admit, I was a little disappointed to see that the rest of the park is not open earlier in the day. We drove all the way out from Seattle, and it was nice to be able to enjoy the park the entire day, rather than just at night - especially with the short lines on all the rides - that was awesome!
I don't know if I'll be as willing to drive all the way out there this time around. I suppose I'll probably end up going, but it would be a lot better from my point of view if the park was open during the day, too. Certainly would make the 4.5 hour drive a little more worth it! Oh well, there weren't too many people there during the day, so I guess it makes sense from their perspective.

Well I emailed the park to ask about the hours in October, and while they said there is a possibility it could change...right now they don't foresee it happening.
While yes last year it did provide plenty of re-rides on everything, it does cost the park to keep it open that early. That and with the later opening they don't have to go through the process of herding everyone back into Main Street to set up for the Haunt.
Though I am curious to know if the Haunts will start at 6pm? Since last year the Haunts didn't start till 7pm, which worked nicely since at that time it was finally dark.
However if the Haunts do start at 6pm where it's still light out, then I'd probably would wait on hitting Terror Canyon since the majority of it is outdoors...and I guess the same would count for MidFRIGHT as well.
Hopefully there will be an indoor haunt or two this year, you can hit one of those when it's light out and by the time you get out it'll be dark.

I think it's safe to say they will have at least one new attraction, especially with the extended hours. That will be nice - thin out the crowds a bit.
I really do hope they open the park during the day at least on Saturdays - that was really fun, and made the long trip worth it. Knott's has the regular park open during the day every day of the week during the Haunt - the time I went it was the same as Silverwood was last year - no lines for any of the rides (I rode Xcellerator when the park opened three times in a row without getting off the ride because no one was in line!) I know, I know, Silverwood is not Knott's, but I'm just sayin', it wouldn't be the only place to open during the day before a Halloween event, even though crowds are light. And while I understand it was a hassle to get everyone over to Main Street - contrast that with Knott's which shuts the entire park down for an hour or two before the Haunt starts. Everyone has to leave the park, and come back in (re-screened through security, separate ticket, etc.). Seems like that would require a lot more work than just shifting everyone over to one area of the park for a half an hour.
Here's the really strange thing I just noticed - the park is not going to run Scarywood on Halloween Night?? That's kind of odd...maybe they didn't get a big crowd that night last year? Seems like that would have been a popular day to go.
I also noticed the prices for 2010 - basically the same - though they are now charging reduced prices for entry into the park after 5pm.
I'm anxious to hear more from the park about what is to come in 2010 for sure...should be another good year!

All right everyone, Silverwood finally put up the events and deals for this season. www.silverwoodthemepark.com/events.phpNaturally a good amount of us are curious about Scarywood, and just as I expected the site isn't giving away much. Here's what's on the site. "Imagine yourself frozen, unable to speak or move, for fear of being discovered by the huge hulk of a creature slashing at it's victims with a chainsaw or the undead lurking in the fog. Scarywood haunted nights will take "FRIGHT" to a new level in 2010!" Besides showing the dates which we already know, that's pretty much it. Though they do have a "Special Scarywood Ticket Price". $24.99, all ages. Price includes admission to the park, all rides, shows & attractions...including all haunted attractions. Looks like the park is ditching the seperate tickets for the haunted attractions, there can be several reasons for this...one of being that the park is not open for the entire day. Another factor could be due to they are adding more haunted attractions. However, just like with any haunted event we will have to wait till late July/August to find out what Scarywood will offer this year. Oh yes, I did notice they raised the age requirement to work at Scarywood. The minimum age is now 17, if I recall last year the minimum age requirement was a bit lower.

I wish I could be part of the planning and building. I have some props they might want. I'm surprised they raised the age to 17. It seems kind of high to me.

^ I'm not surprised on the age, especially considering for most theme park haunts you have to be 18. Do keep in mind that with later hours a park really can't have younger teens working.

Good point wolfblood.
I wonder if they could have a bonfire somewhere that we could warm up by?

While I don't know about a bonfire, on a youtube video showing a couple pics of the park during Scarywood I noticed a portable heater in one of the pics. It looked like the kind that you'd find at a resturant with an outdoor seating area. (Which are pretty effective at warming things nearby)
