Well, I don't think it could really be anything other than a Halloween event, could it? I kind of doubt they'd to a "spooky Christmas" and it's a little late in the year for a "spooky 4th of July" so I'm going out on a limb and guessing Halloween.

^My thoughts exactly, Skylark! Though I wonder what exactly it will be - are they going to go all out and do something like the Haunt (thought not as extravagant obviously), or are they just going to do something simple like a haunted house? Or something in between? I could see them doing something cool with the train ride, as well as using the Ice Palace for a maze or a haunted house, but what else might they do? Maybe they are going to theme up one of the coasters to have a bunch of spooky things from outer space and they could call it "Ghost Galaxy" and....oh wait...nevermind...

Well it's getting close to the time where theme parks would announce a Halloween event, and now I'm hearing things like a maze is going to be built at Thunder Canyon. Highly unlikely, though I've seen parks put a maze right into their white water raft ride. Though then again, all of those had the flat rapids and not like TC which is gradually going down.
UPDATE- Apparently the comment on facebook reguarding the person hearing Thunder Canyon being used for a maze is gone. (There's still a post replying to it, but the original post is gone.) Weather it be they took it down or the park did, we shall only know when more is revealed by the park.
This is getting very interesting, I'm looking forward to see what happens! Perhaps we might see the park calling itself "Spookywood"? Cheesy yes, but Knott's does it as well.

IF it is true that a post was pulled down, it could be a telling sign that the rumor is true. Silverwood has been known to do this in the past. Though I don't know why they would do such a thing. It's best to just let the rumor mill run its course - there are so many true and false rumors out there its practically impossible to bet on anything until it is confirmed.
That having been said I'd guess they will do one haunted maze and probably some wandering scarers, along with some theming throughout the park. It would be a great idea for them and though it may not be a huge success this first year, give people a year or two and it could be as big/bigger than summer peak season (i.e. Knotts).

They just updated, Silverwood is turning into SCARYWOOD. (Well, I was close on the rename!)
Silverwood Presents, SCARYWOOD! Coming weekends in October with family activities for kids 12 and under during the day. Saturday nights, after 6:30pm, Silverwood gets scary with Thunder Canyon becoming Terror Canyon Trail and the Train transforming into MidFright Express. Additional charge for haunted attractions. Not recommended for children 12 years or younger. Details coming soon, are you brave enough?
Looks like they are doing a maze in Thunder Canyon, and I had a feeling they would be doing something with the train.

I wish I could be part of the design team. I have some props that I have built that would be a lot of fun to include in the haunt.

I wish I could be part of the design team. I have some props that I have built that would be a lot of fun to include in the haunt. Same here, I'm always getting a bunch of ideas for various mazes and scare zones. There are a lot of classic themes such as a slaughterhose or asylum, and then there are various twists that have yet to be implimented. (Werewolves running a slaughterhouse, a Asylum being run by an "imaginary" being named Harvey...or pretty much all the characters from Alice in Wonderland.)
