Well, as Silverwood has closed for the year and the off-season is upon us, thoughts no doubt turn to 2009 and what is in store. Remember, was just shy of a year ago that rumors were leaked about Aftershock.
So, what do you guys think the park should and/or will do next year? Keeping in mind they've done something big the past three consecutive years (Panic Plunge in 06, Boulder Beach expansion in 07, and Aftershock in 08), I've got to think they'll slow things down for 09, but I've been saying that the past couple years and they keep surprising me each time! I'll stick to it this year again though - I think they will not do anything drastic (i.e. on the same level as the past three years).
I think they should do something like add a family coaster or improve Garfield's summer camp as far as rides go. Other than that, better food selections, and of course, add the second train to the woodies, but I think that might be wishful thinking at this point...

I think we have a better chance of seeing Silverwood add an Intamin Gigacoaster than getting two trains on the woodies...sadly.
I agree that 2009 will see the addition of, if anything, something on a much smaller scale. They simply aren't big enough to add a major attraction again, and plus you have to consider that they really only had Aftershock for half of the season this year. It's basically going to still be new to a lot of people who may have taken their annual trip before the ride opened.
I would love to see Garfield's summer camp get some much needed TLC. Add more rides and spruce up the place they way they've spruced up the rest of the park.
I would rather, however, see a family ride of some sort. Something the entire group can do together. I'm not sure what that would be exactly, but I feel like Silverwood has too many rides that are either only for the little kids, or only for teens and up. Not much everybody can do together and I think that is a big void they have to fill eventually.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, they need a dark ride. Something my kids and I can enjoy together.

I'm hoping they'll tear down the Log Flume and redo it. @@ As much as I love the park, that ride is just... Urgh.
Anyhow, my family trip was right before Aftershock opened. They were testing it, so you can imagine how much it taunted me. Looking forward to riding it next year.
As for additions next year... I really have no idea what to expect. Second trains would be excellent, but as Bud said... Fat chance of that.
I could see them adding on to Boulder Beach again. That really has been where most of the action is these past few years. Really, when we go we ride the roller coasters and then hop on over to the water park.

Let's face it, realistically, they will probably do nothing next year. Not only have they done something pretty major the last three years in a row, but the economy right now doesn't exactly promote spending any more money than is absolutely necessary. I would like to see them do a lot of things but I'm guessing it will be at least a couple of years before anything worth mentioning gets added.

I agree with Skylark, with the way the economy's been...chances are we won't see anything major for the next few years.
When big parks like Dollywood and Disney have to hold back on new projects, chances are smaller parks like Silverwood will do the same.
However, when they do end up putting in a new attraction. I agree with voodoobones that a dark ride would be very nice.
As for what kind of dark ride, once again I will say I would like to have a Vekoma MadHouse...though a Sally Interactive dark ride would be a great choice as well. Though I will also say I would like the park to save up some money so they can get a better detailed interactive dark ride like Challenge of Mondor, Challange of Tutankhamon and Labyrinth of the Minotaur.
I'm not really impressed by the majority of shooting dark rides in the US since it's mainly just blacklights and cardboard cut-outs. Then again...I'm really picky when it comes to detailed attractions.

You know even if they took some dirt and did some landscaping and theming with the log ride. They don't have to turn it into a Slash Mountain but they could try to dress it up a bit.
I have always been a fan of dark rides. It's something you can get excited about as a kid and still enjoy it as an adult.
It is also cool to take your kids on one and have them snuggle into you when they get spooked.

Well I just recently checked Silverwood's website, and I discovered a couple things.
I can certainly say Aftershock helped with the economy situation since the park apparently had another record breaking year. (I'm noticing that any time they add a new major attraction, records for the park are smashed.)
I also noticed that it looks like for 09' they will be focused on celebrating Tremors 10th Anniversary. So it should be interesting to see what festivities they will do for it.

^Second train? (Hey, I can dream, can't I?...) Here's my guess. Article in local newspapers, maybe some thing on KREM2, MAYBE a ceremony, and maybe an official POV for the park's website? If there is a POV taken of Tremors, I pray that it is mounted. The Aftershock one, eh, it was okay for what Aftershock POVs that we have floating around on the net, but it could of been mounted. I'd be lying if I said that the park is buying a new PTC train for Tremors. But perhaps a new paint scheme for the train is in the cards? If Tremors was to start operating two trains, I say that the park just spring for either the Gravity Group's new Timberliners (their answer to GCI's Millennium Flyers" or PTC's open front articulated trains.
