At first I thought this sounded like the most ridiculous idea ever...and hearing Michael Bay was the director seemed to confirm my fears. Even the first teaser trailer made me laugh and think "oh, BROTHER!". Then I heard Steven Spielberg is the executive producer. Then today I watched this new trailer: movies.yahoo.com/feature/transformers.htmlMy entire opinion has changed.

Looks pretty cool from the trailer. You can't go wrong with Steven Spielberg, for the most part.
I think this could either be a very cool movie or really dumb...but I'm thinking it'll be more on the good side from the looks of things. Those special effects look quite impressive...

I saw the new trailer a few days ago. The special affects look amazing and any movie with lots of stuff getting blown up is a plus. Having grown up when Transformers were the must have toy and watching the Transformers cartoons I must say I am disappointed to not see any of the main characters. It just seems like a bunch of generic robots come to destroy the earth. But we'll see how it turns out. I do plan on going when it opens.

Saw it yesterday and absolutely LOVED it. I won't spoil anything, but the movie just had some amazing special effects, great characters, just an all around fun movie to see. I'm a bit young to remember the old cartoon, but I did see the old movie from 1986, and it seemed to stay pretty true to the old stuff.
But man, what a movie! This, IMO was the surprise movie of the summer. Wasn't expecting it to be as amazing as it was. I think I'd almost go as far as to say it's my favorite movie so far of the three movies I've seen this summer. Absolutely worth seeing on the big screen.
