no, i don't know anything like this to be true. i'm asking you to give me some thoughts on this idea.
it seems that every year sw gets bigger and better and eventually - if not already - they are gonna get the attention of some theme park chain out there who wants a presence in the northwest.
we all know sw's owners say "no sale" today but with time anything is possible. ANYTHING. so, do you ever see it happening and if so, who would you like to see take over?
personally i think cedar fair could do a nice job managing sw; investing just enough capital for big new rides while letting them keep their hometown charm.

As of right now, I don't see any larger park chain being interested in Silverwood. Should that day ever come, I certainly hope it doesn't go to Cedar Fair. I am sure they would suck all of the charm out of that park just as fast as they did Knott's. CF might build some decent coasters, but that is about all they do. At least you know you will never be more than two feet away from a garbage can, though.
Honestly, I think the company most interested in a park like Silverwood would be PARC Management, the same people who bought Wild Waves. I just don't see any of the big dogs like CP, Busch, Six Flags, etc, really being interested unless Silverwood REALLY grew.

Amen Skylark.
Cedar Fair NEUTERED Knott's, and they're doing the same with other parks in the chain.
If you want Silverwood to become a park full of interwoven mega-coasters, then CF is your company.
If you like any of the laid-back, "personality" that Silverwood currently has, CF will ruin it.
Personally I think CF is the new Six Flags.

After seeing what has happened to other parks bought by Cedar Fair, this is all I have to say about it.
No, no, no, NO, NO,NO,NO NO!
Cedar Fair does a wonderful job of sucking the charm out of a park and putting it in a slow and painful death.
They have ridiculous weather polices (Rain one bit and EVERYTHING closes. For Knott's it's the whole park.)
They don't really care about theming, unless you consider cement and trashcans a theme.
That and they don't take care of wooden coasters, in fact there not even planning to put any more in the near future.

Oh come on, folks, Knott's is at the peak of it's game! You can't possibly be upset by what's happened since CF took over. Silver Bullet did nothing but add more charm to the entrance of the park...I mean, you have to admit that ghost town was just begging to have a giant red and yellow cobra roll over the top of it. And the lake area is just so much more quaint with 100 footers sticking out of it. On top of that, no one can possibly be upset at the fact that they took out Kingdom of the Dinosaurs and haven't done a thing with the building in like 10 years. They even left all the signs up! And to top it off, the log flume was closed for like 6 months, during the entire summer! What more could you possibly ask for??? Cedar Fair should be proud of its accomplishments with Knott's as they would be great selling points to offer to any other small park like Silverwood.

^ You forgot that the lake shrunk in size by about 90% too. And don't get me started on the Wacky Soap Box Racers.

I think the current owner is doing an excellent job at running the park, but if he ever had to get rid of the park for any reason, I think he should give it to me.

I think the biggest draw back to the park as a selling point is that it is seasonal. I don't think any large firm would want to invest in a seasonal park.
Although they could take steps into making it a year-round theme park but boulder beach would definitely be out of the equation.

^ummmmmm....many of the large theme park chains have seasonal parks in the united states. let's look at the big 5:
six flags - every park is seasonal except magic mountain cedar fair - every park is seasonal except knott's busch - one of the two theme parks is seasonal, one of the sea worlds is seasonal disney - no seasonal parks universal - no seasonal parks
