NASA is Building the Third Tallest Roller Coaster

Let's hope that nothing ever goes wrong while astronauts are preparing to launch on their Ares 1 rocket - the new vehicle that will replace the space shuttle. But if there is a problem, and the astronauts need to escape right now, they'll have a fun ride down - on the 3rd tallest roller coaster in the world. It's called the Orion Emergency Egress System, but really, it's a roller coaster, designed to get the astronauts away from the vehicle and into a protective bunker in moments.

Kind of an interesting method of getting people away from danger. They should do stuff like this everywhere....they could have launched coasters to get people out of factories fast if there was an explosion or something...much more fun than running for your life at least.

So....is NASA actually designing and building it themselves or did they get Intamin or B&M or someone like that to do it?

This is what the article says, it doesn't mention any names but it does sound like they pulled in some big people.

NASA called in the world's roller coaster designers to help them create the system.
