Scarywood will seemingly be haunted by a ghostly rock star/rock band during the tenth year of the event. Could this rock music bring out the dead? Perhaps the haunting lyrics will drive you into a psychotic murderous state. Any thoughts? Check out Scarywood's official site for more info. Rock On!

Looks like a replacement for 3dementia. www.scarywoodhaunt.com/3d-rockhouse.phpDon't know if the park intended for this to be out so soon but it's on scarywoods website and its not hidden so I guess so. It's says the location is Aftershock, does anyone know what that means? Looks like everything else is the same. Can't confirm though cause I've never been to scarywood. Just during the regular season.

Yep, looks like a new version of 3Dementia indeed. Aftershock I think just means that's where the entrance is. Last year, the entrance was over by the Aftershock exit, and then the maze itself was inside the picnic pavilion area and you exited over by the 'actual' entrance to the picnic area...which is where the entrance to another haunt was. The two haunts kind of went in opposite directions.
Glad to see something new coming; 3Dementia had a good long run, although personally I think Blood Bayou and Total Darkness have worn out their welcome more so than 3Dementia had. Oh well...will be interesting to see how 'different' this ends up being; sounds like fun though!

I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping for a little more pizzazz for the tenth year celebrating fear. The ability to tell a story is a skill that Silverwood management lacks. There is still time for them to prove me wrong. I hope they do.

It seems that Silverwood is putting a lot of money into Scarywood the last couple of years. I think thats a shame (not necessarily bad) since the park itself needs some new rides/attractions.

I've often put my desire for an addition that could pull even some form of dual duty but yeah I do think to a degree the bones of the park itself could use some enhancement and that enhancement could keep the overall experience up regardless of timeframe if its the right ride type. Anyone been to this years Scarywood yet? I'd just like to hear or see impressions of the park before the events done if possible lol.

Agreed. I always thought that a haunted house-esque ride could do double duty, and be a good fit for the park. You could make the ride trackless, so all you have to do for Scarywood is move the vehicles out of the way and Whala! you've got another haunted maze/walk through. Blood Bayou's space might be a good candidate? The former Ice Palace always seemed to be underutilized. I thought it was also interesting that in the RCA Scarywood TR, they mentioned that all of the haunts are now in permanent buildings (except Total Darkness???). I think thats interesting for a few reasons: 1. The last addition to the regular summer season was Riptide Racer in 2016. 2. There has been an addition to Scarywood every season since 2016 (Planet Zombie 2017, Pharaoh's Curse and Log Flume 2018, Dr. Delirium's 2019) 3. All of the additions have replaced haunts that were not permanent (Zombiewood Express, Ancient Ruins, 3Dementia) with new permanent haunts. 4. This all fits with what Gary Norton said in the RCA podcast in 2013 that they wanted to try and reuse/make more permanent stuff for Scarywood. 5. Light up the Night was announced for the 2020 regular season.
My theory is this: The park decided to slowly make more of the Scarywood infrastructure permanent in order to reduce the amount of time/money it takes to set the event up and to help the overall detail and quality of the event. This strategy has resulted in them spending their expansion money on the permanent haunts for Scarywood, and was designed to culminate in Scarywood's 10 year anniversary, this year. My guess is now that Scarywood has more permanent infrastructure, the park will now produce some kind of string of improvements for the summer season over the next few years, starting with Light up the Night. So maybe those much needed improvements are not so far off? Or maybe i'm just wishing...

I hadn't realized how much had been steered towards perminancy (I did notice how through Planet Zombie's installation was though). I remember long ago there were talks of an expansion in some form for the parks boundaries and in some ways I'd like to see at least some form of new sector occur. Silverwood's always had a very odd layout though and part of me wonders if the park is simply committed to the boundaries as they are now.
I know they want to keep expansions and ideas towards things that will be unique to the park so I just keep attention and figure the goal will be for something small but cleaver.
I think a darkride would probably deserve its own buildling and honestly trackless may be too expensive. I figured just having even a simple Boo Blasters or other form of shooter ride might work well. Maybe a basic cowboy's bandid shootout ride that because haunted with ghost cowboys in a simple overlay and switch of lighting package.
I get that a changeout would be a bit of work but some mild embellishments could work and it'd give the park a workhourse with capacity for the event. I guess that will also lead to the question of how visitation works and if the park can manage a real workhorse or not?
What I mean to say is while lines are actually pretty long at the park (frustrating especially for a special event like Scarywood), it's worth considering what rides with doubled capacity might mean. The park isn't terribly large and if people progress through things too quickly you can either create chokepoints at all the haunted houses or have people completing the event or day at the park too quickly and then leaving with a negative impression that the park is too small.
Expectations are tricky things to manage and I'm sure there are plenty of considerations made for each addition. At the same time I feel as though the slow building nature sometimes leads me to ignore the park. Then again maybe I'm just getting old and need to find a jam other than yearly park visits. Still Silverwoods got a place in my heart so I'll still try for yearly visits and check in here.
