I am among the many who won't shed a tear when these two coasters are gone. According to Screamscape, Flashback has not run for almost four years, and as we are all aware, despite it looking like a cool ride (and maybe it was when it was first built), it was so painful it was like walking into a fight you knew you were going to lose.
Psyclone was also painful. I did like this ride when it first opened, but for whatever reason (the B&M trains perhaps???) the ride aged horribly. I do believe I am one of the few souls who remembers the recorded psychotic laughter when you were released into the turnaround tunnel before the lift hill. That was a cool bit of fun, while it worked, which wasn't for too long.
So now Psyclone is already being dismantled. According to SFMM, Flashback waits for a while. I'm guessing Psyclone makes way for another coaster (maybe a decent woodie at SFMM?) and Flashback eventually makes way for more of Hurricane Harbor.
Will any of us actually miss either of these rides? Does the sentimentality run deeper than the pain of a bad ride?

I think it is a good move by Six Flags. I already posted this info and some of my thoughts here and I still think they may use the land where Psyclone is to build there rumored Thomas The Train themed area. I think it would be a good fit and give the park another kids/family area, as they currently only have one such area now. I'm sure, like Bud said, that Flashback's area will simply be used for Hurricane Harbor. From everything I have heard from Shapiro, I would not be a bit surprised to see them hold off on building another coaster at The Mountain for a while. I'd say the Cedar Fair vs Six Flags coaster wars are officially over. I am one that will shed no tears for the loss of these two coasters.

i say good riddance. but i don't think another kids area is a good idea either?
i think sfmm is beyond hope. granted tatsu is pretty sweet as is goliath but beyond that they have a bunch of aging dinosaur coasters and a rough crowd.
i wonder if flashback was ever a good ride? i know psyclone was once. long ago.

^ Yeah styvx, I agree that Psyclone was once a decent ride. I rode it the year it opened and really liked it. It's biggest problem was the trains it ran, not the coaster itself. If it would have been equipped with PTC trains and properly maintained, it would still be a good ride.
Flashback on the other hand was crap from the start.
Along with Tatsu and Goliath, I would also add Riddler, Batman, and Scream to there list of very good coasters. I can't disagree with you on the crowds and the fact that the park itself may be beyond saving though.

Oh, man! I wanted to see more steel being RIPPED apart! I wanted to see this thing dying a PAINFUL death! Not some nice, clean removal piece by piece.
Oh well, at least it is going away for good. This had to be the worst coaster on the planet.
For good fun, read Lance's tribute to Flashback via Tenacious D's "The Metal" on Screamscape today. Very funny.

^ They may not be taking a wrecking ball to it but they are just letting the pieces go crashing to the ground when they remove them. This is NOT a disassembly to relocate, this thing is going to the scrap yard. Brings a smile to my face.

^ You may have already seen these already but I figured you can never see them too much. There once was a really bad coaster here. And just because this one is so nice to see also..........
