Would there really be enough space for a substantial coaster in that slot? Looking at it from Google maps it seems smaller than the Corkscrew area. It just feels like any kind of expansion is eventually going to require some significant redevelopment of parts of the park.
I will agree with the views that they can easily find other locations to slot in Halloween mazes though. I'm hoping to visit Scarywood again soon and I'll definitely slot in a summer trip whenever they get into adding another coaster or big ride.

Considering the Raptor track is made to be a compact coaster with the trains being single file, they could very well shoehorn something into that space. Could see them moving/removing the Elephant ride so it can curl around that section, but I don't see them doing significant changes to the area to make it fit.

Interesting information, and wow, that would be amazing if they were to be the first Raptor Track coaster. It's been a long time since the park has added a major new attraction...I would argue Aftershock was the last time that happened, which is almost 10 years ago now. Sure they've made some great additions to both the theme park and water park since then, but nothing I would consider to be a "major" addition. Even SpinCycle was 4 years ago...and I wouldn't call that major. Even thinking about it in more detail...if a Raptor track coaster is as compact as it sounds like it would be, it might be difficult to even classify that as a major item as well.
I'm still wondering what that huge expansion was that Gary talked about in the podcast that was supposedly going to happen in 2015??
Also it being the parks 30th year of operation, I'm really surprised that there is nothing new this year...maybe they're waiting until the park officially turns 30 next year?

Here's some photos of the Raptor prototype train and some track setup at the Hayden plant. Would be great to see something like this added to Silverwood, but it's too bad it'll be yet another low capacity attraction. Million dollar question though... Would it have two trains?

I really like Silverwood, and the two woodies are two of the best, and well maintained, but I just can't visit again until they get two-train operation on both of them. The waits are brutal - even when the line is fairly short. Given the numbers they do now, there is simply no excuse.

I don't know that it's fair to leave out additions made since Aftershock like Scarywood. While not a real physical addition to the park Scarywood has to be a fairly expensive investment to make regularly and while it's only up a month out of the year Blood Bayou isn't exactly insubstantial as an attraction (though last I went on it, Blood Bayou was looking a bit rough around the edges) A raptor coaster could be considered major if it has decent ridetimes and memorable moments. If the capacity's good at it feels more substantial than Corkscrew or a Carny ride I'd call it a win. I too am wondering about what the rumored expansion was. If it's been canceled or just shelved for the time being. As an outside observer it seems like alot of things will need to happen before the park can really grow. I hope they're seeing the visitor numbers to grow the park further. I really like Silverwood, and the two woodies are two of the best, and well maintained, but I just can't visit again until they get two-train operation on both of them. The waits are brutal - even when the line is fairly short. Given the numbers they do now, there is simply no excuse. Probably going to wait a while then. I'm sure there's probably a better crowd dispersal argument for just adding another coaster as it'd provide another draw to divide crowds up with (though it would also increase the overall traffic at the park). It seems to me the park could stand to grow at least a bit more before structural issues are addressed.

Currently there are pieces of topper track and stacks of lumber sitting behind Aftershock. RMC has stored stuff on Silverwood property before, but this is much more track than I've ever seen. Land is also being cleared behind corkscrew. Not sure if it's a red herring, but it would be pretty exciting to get a new coaster next season.

If there's pieces of topper track in the clearing behind Aftershock, it could be more pieces for Tremors since that does have TT already installed in sections. Though I'll admit land being cleared behind Corkscrew is new, so it's a wait and see just where those pieces are going to go.

jspider, you make a good point about Scarywood. I know that's been a huge undertaking for the park since Aftershock, and for sure qualifies as a major addition. But in terms of additions for the summer crowd, they've added two slides to the water park and five rides to the theme park (all of which, except for Spin Cycle, are all small kiddie rides). That's all great, and every addition is a good thing. But as of next year, Aftershock will be 10 years old. That's not a lot of expansion in 10 years. I'm just hoping we'll see something bigger soon.
Going back to SoCalCoaster's earlier rumor about Silverwood being the first park to get Raptor Track....looks like that's not the case as Six Flags Fiesta Texas just announced they'll be the first park to get one. And it looks awesome! I hope Silverwood is still in line to get one of these!!
