For a long time it seems like Holiday World and Silverwood were good parks to compare for a variety of reasons. Both are family owned, both have multiple world class wooden coasters, both have attached water parks, and both are located in fairly remote areas (I.e. "Destination parks"). True to this theory, the two were often compared on various coaster and theme park enthusiast websites (including this one!)
However, with their new coaster Thunderbird for 2015, I think the comparisons need to end. Holiday World is pulling out all the stops on this one. If you aren't familiar, go check it out on Screamscape or one of the other major sites. With this addition, Holday World seems ready to really take that next step up into the big leagues. This coaster is really going to put this park on the map. These new Wing coasters are ultra smooth, have brilliant restraint systems that eliminate head-banging, and are just one of the most incredible coaster experiences out there. I've been on both Six Flags Great America's as well as Dollywood's...and they are among my top 20 of the over 250 coasters I have ridden.
I may be completely wrong, but I just can't see Silverwood taking this type of step. I don't know if they ever will, to be honest. They have had nice additions over the past few years, and have done amazing things with their scenery and landscaping, but to put in an eight figure (cost) B&M coaster like this...well.....I just don't see it happening. Of course, I'd LOVE to be wrong here.....
Thoughts?

Any huge steel coaster like that is certainly not something Silverwood has done yet - even Aftershock is not on the same level as any B&M mega-steel coaster. I've still not been on a wing coaster, and as long as it's better than the Arrow 4th dimension coasters (i.e. X2 at SFMM, which I am NOT a fan of), I'd love to see something like this come around. Imagine one of those back in the woods, maybe near the Silverwood Mine? Would be incredible. But I agree with you, I don't think it will happen for a very long time, especially if the big "2015 expansion" is a non-costaer related item.
