I know its a bit early to really look for rumors of next years Scarywood. Especially when we don't even know what if anything will be happening for the next year .
I'm just curious what kind of improvements everyone thinks could be made to the event now that we've all had a months distance between us and the excitement. I guess I'm still curious as to how they will keep this event fresh. This year certainly worked but then again I went two days and now feel like I've had a good fill of Blood Bayou were as last year I felt I didn't get to see it enough. They also seem to have nailed terror canyon to such a degree I'm curious as to what new things they can do to keep it all different.
Mind Warp of course stands out as needing the most improvement. The most obvious ideas would simply be to include more funhouse elements into it for effect. Another idea might be to make the doorway sequence one way meaning you can't easily backtrack through doors and you can end up dropped into passageways that lead back to the beginning.
Including some static scenes of murder or monsters might also help balance out the maze even if it remained low in performers. Likewise they could expand the fence segment maybe even slightly and add in a occasional lightning effect. Perhaps leave strung up bodies scattered around to make it harder to see whats a scare actor and whats a set piece.
They should also think of adding in either a mirror maze segment or perhaps a lineup of traditional funhouse mirrors with a few double sided mirrors mixed into them. Cut out the lights at certain moments while turning on the lights behind the mirrors to shock people with a monster
I think my biggest desire is some form of enhancement to the Magic Theater or whatever the pizza place is called. It was an actual attraction for the first Scarywood event and has been a pretty mild sidenote in the last two.
I don't really think they should relocate actors to it however as the emphasis on the trainride is excellent and does alot for the event. But I do wish they'd up the theming a bit as this area is great shelter especially on the rainy nights. I actually ran into several people who didn't even realize the area was open, its a great place to warm up.
Since it sits right between the two busiest Scare Zones in the park I figure a safe room theme like in Left 4 Dead might be in order. Perhaps set up some barricade theming and put up a poorly painted sign that says "Sanctuary" in the front. It'd probably attract more people into the building.
The inside could have messages and warnings about different areas of the park scrawled out on the walls. Perhaps create duplicates of some of the zombie hunter posters and hang them up in there? Maybe put a X over King and a few other hunters that get retired and label them lost or deceased.
Another idea might be to take the movie screen and instead of running old horror films on it create some kind of in house production. Create 5minute clips as though there is an emergency newscast going off about a zombie infection in the park. They could film it during the preparation weeks for the event. Create fake interviews with the zombie hunters and do joke back-stories for each of them as they pledge to save Silverwood form infestation. Discuss the downfall of the town of deadwood. Show a few scenes of zombies rampaging the park and have an emergency alert made for the lost girlscounts. Perhaps splice in a few ads for the killer clown carnival and mindwarp.
Basically a film loop that can build anticipation for the event as well as give a bit of humor and backstory. They could also dissect pieces of the video and use it as viral web advertising on their facebook page . It'd be tricky to pull off but I think they have the talent.
Those are my major thoughts anyways. I'm curious to see if they'll continue upping the level of awesome on the train ride and if they'll ever add more decoration to the back end of the park (which arguably doesn't need much since the coasters are a major draw but still maybe a few projections would be nice).
