It's really interesting to read about Snoopy being at Silverwood for the air shows. I wonder if Knott's had anything to do with the fact that he isn't there anymore?
I have always thought Garfield was kind of a weird mascot for the park, and it really doesn't seem like the park has done much with him. The only time I've ever seen him out for photos was at the first Scarywood event during the day. Other than that, all I've seen is a bunch of stuffed animals and other merchandise, and a re-named kids area. Seems like they might have wanted to do more than that...at least have him out more for photos, etc.

Actually, it was "Sloopy" the dog and he was fighting the "Black Baron" in the air shows back in the 90's.

I have never fully understood Garfield as the mascot of Silverwood. I guess I thought it should be more of a character that ties more into the environment of North Idaho, the mountains, trees, etc. if it had been my park, I would have a woodland type mascot there, and one that was there more often. We go to Silverwood alot, and we rarely ever see Garfield roaming around. We did get a picture finally with him last year. I think it is still not too late for Silverwood to develop their own mascot, (such as the Spokane Indians creating "Otto") then people would tie in the created mascot to Silverwood Park they way people tie in Otto to Spokane Indians baseball. It would have been great if it had been created from the beginning of the park, but since Silverwood is not too old yet, I think a personal mascot would be best. Of course Garfield could still come visit! Buddy Bear was the original mascot and he was joined by Racheal and Jingles in the late 90's. The train robbers and Sheriff were also considered mascots.

Sloopy the beagle pre-dates Buddy Bear.

I was wrong about Buddy being the first mascot, Geoffrey the Dragon was. Silverwood has a picture of him on their FB page and I think he is awesome. ;D

Yes it was not snoopy but sloppy and it looked like a really crummy snoopy. I have a video of the airshow and our entire glider ride we took back in like 1996 or 97.
