It's that time of year again! Mitch Hawkers wood coaster poll is now open. This is easily the best coaster poll out there so make your voice heard. It doesn't matter if you've ridden one coaster or one thousand coasters, your vote will still count. Because the ballot is kind of difficult to fill out (and time consuming) go here for a quick simple way to vote.

I was able to finally do this yesterday, while I have a small list for both Steel and Wood...at least I was able to update it with my rides on Tremors, Coaster Thrillride and Aftershock.

Tremors dropped to #13 this year. I believe that is it's lowest ranking yet but probably a more accurate ranking than in years past. Still, to be in the top 25 is very impressive. Timber Terror also finished in the top 25 coming in at 21.
I just realised I actually left two woodies off of my list but they were both just average coasters so I guess it's no big deal.

Sad to see that Tremors dropped out of the Top 10, as I was hoping that Tremors would hang in there one last year in the top 10 for the 10th anniversary next season. Oh well, it had to happen sometime.
Even sadder is the death of a good coaster poll known as the Mitch Hawker Coaster Poll. From here on out the poll should be known at the Theme Park Review Coaster Poll, as the #1 spot of T-Express was decided by 14 people, all TPR members. While the coaster does look impressive, I find it very disappointing that there are countless people who are sheep to Robb Alvey, who kiss his rear constantly, for either the desire to be in his "inner circle," or for fear of being banned from TPR for dissagreeing with the man. For this reason this year's wooden, as well as steel coaster polls turned out the way that they did.
My only regret is not voting in this year's poll. I know Tremors would of probably ended up higher than #13.
Oh, if youre intrested in seeing all of T-Express' 14 riders, here's a list of all T-Express riders & respective rank vs. Voyage.
"South Korea" "Gavin Jones" T-Express Rank: #1 Voyage Rank: N/A
"Northridge, CA" "Joey Mandel" T-Express Rank: #2 Voyage Rank: N/A
"Sweden" "loefet" T-Express Rank: #1 Voyage Rank: N/A
"New York" "milst1" T-Express Rank: #10 Voyage Rank: #1
"CALIFORNIA, USA" "RICHARD HARBISON" T-Express Rank: #1 Voyage Rank: #3
(anonymous) T-Express Rank: #4 Voyage Rank: N/A
"Birmingham,england" "george greenway" T-Express Rank: #1 Voyage Rank:#5
"Australia" "Nick McKay" T-Express Rank: #1 Voyage Rank: N/A
"Indiana" "Dave Lawrence" T-Express Rank: #3 Voyage Rank: #2
"California, USA" "Robb Alvey" T-Express Rank: #1 Voyage Rank: #35
"California" "Jeff Johnson" T-Express Rank: #1 Voyage Rank: #3
"Lowell, MA" "Rich E." T-Express Rank: #1 Voyage Rank: #5
"Maryland" "Dave Thomas" T-Express Rank: #3 Voyage Rank: N/A
"Valencia, Ca" "Elissa Alvey" T-Express Rank: #3 Voyage Rank: #25
In head-to-head between the two, the results are something like this:
TE|Vo 10|1 1|3 1|5 3|2 1|35 1|3 1|5 3|25 6|2

^ It's sad to see that you're buying into some of the stuff the other coaster boards (all of which seem to have some sort of problem with TPR) are posting about TPR. It's nice to actually know the situation before making statements about something you don't know. Have you ever met Robb or anyone in his "inner-circle"?
Mitches formula has not changed. It still uses head to head comparisons. You can not manipulate the poll. The Voyage, by ALL ACOUNTS, even those who love that coaster, is that is a rough ride. Most of those on your list above rated the Voyage very high. To think that someone might prefer a smoother ride seems incredibly likely to me. I know I would. Also T-Express is pretty much one half El Toro (#3) and one half Balder (#5). Why on earth would anyone think that a coaster that is a combination of two of the top five coasters in the would would not rank number one?
The other thing is that those people were simply on a coaster trip, no different that if it was an ACE trip. Several of those 14 people do not even post on TPR and are not "close friends" of Robb and Elissa.
Maybe you should try actually knowing what you are talking about before just spreading rumors your reading on RCpro.

I firmly agree with Skylark, it's better to know the situation all around then go off just from a few outside sources.
While yes, pretty much all the votes for T-Express were from people that were on the TPR trip. That doesn't mean the whole thing was rigged by TPR to make it win. (Heck, some people on that list rated the Voyage higher then T-Express.)
I also find it quite silly reading some complaints about Robb asking people to vote, he's been doing that for the past few years...and I don't blame him, Mitches poll is the best one out there. He even made it better this year by not showing the current results so fanboys couldn't take a look at the current rankings and try and sink a coaster's rating like last year.
As for Tremors being at #13, so what? That's still very impressive compared to all the wooden coasters out there. Not to mention it would not get that kind of appreciation from Amusement Today's farce that it the Golden Ticket Awards.

It's an interesting discussion, to be sure. TPR has a very large following, but it seems people either love or hate them, with very few in the middle.
Personally, any poll that puts Tremors high in the rankings, especially with how remote and relatively unknown/unvisited Silverwood is, holds some credibility IMO. I've been on 122 different coasters and Tremors is #11 on my list; my #1 wooden coaster.
I'm with Screamscape, however, in that I would like to see a separate poll for US coasters as well. I like the inclusion of all rides, but the international scene takes things to a broad level that a huge segment of coaster enthusiasts have never/may never experience. I am one of those people that has yet to visit a park overseas. It would be nice to see two separate polls; one for US coasters only, and another for all coasters (the current poll).
Just my $.02...
