aftershock is an amazing rollercoaster! this 2008 season was great. even though aftershock closed down a couple time for problems, it has been running better. the only reason that this happened was because when it was at six flags they did not take care of it. it was theire fault that aftershock didn't run as well.

^ Actually, that is very much not true. Vekoma has openly admitted they made many mistakes designing that ride. I know everyone loves to bash Six Flags and all but Vekoma was every bit as much at fault.

With a majority of them being problems that should have never exisited during the design phase. In fact, I have to give thanks to SFGAM for doing what they could to keep the thing running when they had it. I have a feeling if SW got the one from SFOG (Which barely ran at all), then they would have had a dud on their hands.

shows how bad a megachain like six flags is at taking care of their own rides. there is no excuse for why silverwood can make it work and they couldnt. sweet irony.

Seriously, Great America had a lot of problems mis-parking. It was such a stupid problem on top of it, and it would close for 10 minutes, and open just after that. It literally should take 1 minute for the mechanics to come and move the train, and than it would be operational again. (It took time for the mechanics to get there because they were somewhere else.) People would leave the line, and say it's always broken. Blah, blah. I always felt that problem was because of a faulty sensor, and they probably didn't know which one it was.
To me though, it didn't really matter if it was off by 1 inch as long as it was fully in the station. It was a stupid type of breakdown. I would love to visit your park just to see what's going on with it. I would also love to ride the Skydiver. I kind of think Vekoma and Six Flags had a bad relationship.
Six Flags hasn't bought a Vekoma ride since Deja Vu. They got rid of the Invertigo at Six Flags America, and they wanted to get rid of Flashback at Six Flags Over Texas (the rumor). Also Six Flags kicked out Vekoma when building Deja Vu because they said Vekoma was taking too long. They were taking long building it though, but still I wouldn't have done that either.
Sometimes, you have to figure out what's wrong, and not just let the ride run forever though.

Went to Silverwood over Memorial Day weekend and rode Aftershock for the first time. I have been on one of it's cousins at Magic Mountain and expected the same ride. It did seem smoother and seemed to run without a hitch the whole time I was there. Only one complaint - both days the ride ops had to cycle ride for test runs after park opened. Now, when I pay good money to get into an amusement park, I expect all the rides to be open when the rope drops unless ride is broke. I was told that this is normal but WHY can't they start testing Aftershock a half hour before park opens so me and my party don't have to stand and wait for 20 minutes watching empty trains dispatch??? Overall - a great coaster for this park!

My first ride on Aftershock Rollercoaster at Silverwood was on a nice, cold and cloudy Friday evening around 6:45pm of August 8, 2008. I've never been on any rollercoaster like this in my life, until now!!
As soon as I got inside the station, it was pouring rain so hard and I thought they were going to close the ride when I got on. They didn't though!!! While I was going up backwards, it felt like I was tilting more than 90 degrees. The ride was going through the station, up around the loops, onto the upside down loop and up to the sky. Then it went all again, but this time it went backwards. I've never gone backwards on any ride in my life before Aftershock!! After the ride went through the station, it went up backwards and slowly back into the station to end the ride!! During my ride, the rain has finally stopped!!!

So this aftershock is a deja vu ride from six flags?

^Yes, this was the one from Six Flags Great America. Silverwood bought the ride in early 2008 and had it up and running later that summer, and it was re-named "Aftershock".
