So in about 2 weeks I'm heading down to the DLR (Disneyland Resort). I have never been there during the holidays. I will supposedly just barely miss the large crowds (things are supposed to get crazy the day after I leave).
Anybody been during this time of year? And what to expect?

I have not been during the Christmas festivities, but I have several friends and family who have. As long as you don't hit the week of Christmas through New Years, it is usually pretty dead. Everyone I know who has went this time of year really enjoyed it.

Just a quick update: got back from the DLR holiday festivities. I HIGHLY recommend it. In fact, I'm not sure I want to go back to the park during any other time of year.
Haunted Mansion Holiday and Small World Holiday are worth seeing alone. Add to that the parades, fireworks, snow on main street, tree lighting, castle lighting, and all the music and decorations placed in every nook and cranny of the park and it's simply amazing.
Seriously, everyone should do this at least once. It's unlike anything else out there.

I had been during October a few years back, so I'd seen HMH, but I'd never been during December until now.
I'll agree that it's definitely worth going and it really does make you not want to go back at any other time of the year. After I rode HMH a few years ago, I always said I never wanted to go on the original ever again because I liked the Holiday version so much better. I can easily say the same about the whole resort all together during the holidays. Although (and I know not everyone will agree with this) HMH is in my opinion the best part of the holiday layover. I just love that ride. IMHO it's one of the best rides in the park overall. Understand that I'm not trying to downplay any of the other Christmas things at all, but I'd go down there just to do that one ride over and over again.
A few other thoughts - after getting to re-ride the new space mountain in its original form, it's official in my book - Rockin' Space Mountain was one of the worst ideas ever! Last time we were there in March I was so upset that it had been changed - it was great to get to ride it in the normal form again.
I had also forgotten just how good of a show Fantasmic! is. Saw it a couple of years ago on my honeymoon and I remember really liking it, but I had forgotten why. That is just an amazing show.
Also got to try a few new things out while there - I loved the Nemo sub ride. MUCH better than the old sub ride, and a ride that will be popular for a long time. I loved the references to the old ride, too - I love how Disney does that. I also got to try Turtle Talk with Crush for the first time and I thought that was a pretty cool show. I'd highly recommend it - especially if you have kids.
Overall it was an excellent trip to the DLR. The feeling I get down there never gets old, and it just keeps getting harder to leave. In the airport, before we even got on the plane, I was talking to my wife about when we could plan to go down next. ;D

Rockin Suck Mountain should never ever, EVER be resurrected again.
I actually like the original Haunted Mansion better than the holiday one, but both are great in my book.
Now, where are all the pictures!
