Hello everyone, just got back from my annual trip to Wild Waves Fright Fest.
Just to let you know in advance this TR will be a bit long, so the short version is...I enjoyed myself as always and thought this year was better then the ones in the past.
Now the long version, this was the first time in the park since PARC bought it from Six Flags. Overall I'm quite pleased with the newer things I saw.
For example, one very noticible change for the event was Timberhawks station. A Skull prop is up at the front of the station, orange lights line the lift hill. Mummies and cobwebs line the back of the station, and all the lights have been changed to Blacklights and Red lights.
Very simple changes, but I was pleased with it since it made it more festive. However I was only able to ride it once due to the crowds, when it was night out the lines were in the switchbacks!
As for the props that are around the park, a lot of them were moved to different areas. I was a little bummed when I couldn't find my favorite props. (A group of winged demon bats.) Only to find them at the entrance to Mausoleum Madness.
Now on to Mausoleum Madness, there were a good amount of new rooms. From giant mirrors to a Autopsy room. I can also say there were some great improvments in the house, one of them being the rooms were seperated by black cloth. Due to the cloth, you can't tell what's happening in the next room which makes it more fun IMO.
That and it blocks off light from the rooms, which makes certain dark rooms work extremly well. Especially one of my favorites, the Dot Room. With the Dot Room in years past, they had light leak through into the room which ruined the effect. But thankfully now it's totally enclosed, so I couldn't tell where the heck the actor was...until they got me!
Oh yes, another thing I really liked was you do have a chance to go through the House more then once. In the years past they gave you a ticket for the house and once you went through it, you could not go again for the entire day. This year they mark your hand before you go in, but I asked the guy marking my hand and he said if you come back later before the park closes and the lines are not too bad...you can possible go again. (Due to the crowds, that didn't happen today.)
Another big surprise was the new ride replacing the swings, Kanga-Bounce. If you look at the ride, it looks like it's just for kids since it just goes in a circle and bounces. Don't be fooled, this ride packs a nice surprise. While the first few bounces may be small, there are certain times it packs a bit more oomph in the bounce that launces you up and out of your seat!
So in a nutshell it's a airtime machine! Thanks to the fast dispatch times I was able to go on this multiple times. TIP: Sit on the outside seat for the best airtime.
Another thing I liked was that the park was playing music at certain places in the park. (Timberhawks Station, in the courtyard area, near the Tip Top etc.)
Overall, I had a great time and found it better then last years. On another note, me and my parent's stopped by Popeye's for some great chicken and red beans and rice. Mmmmm.
