Well in "typical" Silverwood fashion, we have a new attraction announcement out of nowhere! For 2016, Boulder Beach will be getting some love in the form of a new mat racing slide. The park is also holding a naming contest for it. (Contest will close Nov. 11th) www.silverwoodthemepark.com/contests/naming-contest.phpI've always felt this kind of slide is a lot of fun and a general crowd pleaser, so it's a great choice for the park and already we have something fun to look forward to next year. (Another thing to look out for next year is any possible construction that might hint towards that eventual RMC creation, while we don't know when exactly it's coming, 2017 does offer a new slate for RMC's lineup.)

This is great news. These are big fun, and a 6-lane configuration should keep the line moving.
Yes I'd love a new coaster, but Boulder Beach is in need of something new. I see this as a good move.
More thoughts later after I've had additional time to process.

I wonder if it will actually have a tower as in the promotional photo, or be built into the hillside like some other mat racers.

I'd love more hillside slides since it really give the park a more natural feel.

Yeah it would be cool to have it at least partially built into an uphill section, I don't know if they have anywhere that steep to put it so I'm sure it will require some tower structure at the top.

yeah, it'd significantly increase the price of construction to have to build a hill for the slides. I just prefer those kinds of slides probably due to my fear of heights but I can deal never had a real problem with coasters or anything.

The naming contest ends in a couple of days, and SW revealed where the slide is being placed, right behind Poliwog Park and part of the lazy river.

It now has a name: Riptide Racer. Darn I didn't win.

Anyone been to Boulder Beach yet this year to try the new slide(s), or been to the park in general? From the map it looks like everything major is in the same place, except of course the new slide. How are the coasters riding?

Anyone been to Boulder Beach yet this year to try the new slide(s), or been to the park in general? From the map it looks like everything major is in the same place, except of course the new slide. How are the coasters riding? I was there a week ago. The new mat racers are hands down the best thing at Boulder Beach now. Just fantastic. The train ride continues to evolve and improve. The coasters were riding well, though no new topper track or any major changes. They did change the Garlic Fries at Lindy's and we didn't like them nearly as much. The park looks great as always. Not much else new to report on. No signs of any T-Rex track, clearing, or construction, though I admittedly didn't get to talk to any owners or management this visit.
