Anyone have inside info about schedules for Zombiewood Express? Or even just know how often it runs based on previous years? I want to make sure I get a chance to ride it (I missed the train show last I was there!) so I'm planning out at least 1 of my nights to make sure we get a ride in.

We were there just last night. We waited in line for just over an hour, got in line at 9:50 PM, and got on the train right before 11:00PM. Two trains went ahead of us in that period of time. So I'd say they try to run on the half hour and hour. Not 100% on this, but that's what it seemed like.
It was first time to Scarywood, and it was awesome! Caved in was by far our favorite.

Were the lines too ridiculous? We are going to go 2 nights, but hoping the crowds will be manageable so we get to do plenty of rides and things besides the haunts. I am getting super excited, glad to hear you had a good time! Would you say the best time to hit what we want is right at opening, or did you notice a slower time in the crowds for anything?
By the way, thanks a lot for the info, it's not as easy to get trip reports and figure out what's happening at SW as compared to larger parks where people post on other forums all the time. This forum is a great resource!

The train leaves as soon as it's loaded. Depending on how fast they make the run (being an antique steam engine combined with live actors along the run makes it somewhat unpredictable), it leaves roughly every 35 minutes. I'd say you're better off starting with the train and moving on to other attractions afterwards. They close the line for the train early so we aren't hanging around forever after the park closes still running the train. I also recommend staying until the end of the night when we actually close the attractions. Near the end of the night you'll often be able to go through at least a few a second time.

Very nice of you to share your advice, I do appreciate it! It will make planning much less uncertain. We are going 2 nights, so hopefully we will get a chance to try everything at least once, and still have time for some rides. Train first, I will definitely be staying until close. I think SpinCycle will be much more fun in the dark, it didn't really live up to my (maybe unrealistic) expectations this summer. Also, never ridden a backwards roller coaster before. 2 more weeks!

Spin at night is amazing. This year we've got half the rides lights off and only a few small construction flood lights at the bottom so it's pretty dark. And Backwards Timber is my favorite ride in the park, period.

My husband and I just went on Thursday. AMAZING! As it is every year. Our favorite part was their new attraction "Caved In" SO SCARY! The actors/monsters in there are so good! They made the attraction so much fun.. and terrifying lol. I dont want to give away any surprises.. but if you have a chance to watch the movie "The Decent" before you go... that will make it even cooler! Enjoy!

After two years of missing the event I went last friday night.
I gotta agree that Caved In was the strongest Haunt this year, the fog was great at concealing the actors though at times got to be a bit much.
I was impressed overall with the look of the park which was waay better then it ever was in 2012. I loved the persistent Halloween theme around the entire park. There was also one scare actor over by Tremors who was doing such a great job interacting he became a favorite for my entire group.
3Dementia was ok, everyone tells me it was just as good as least year which was better than the year before, but in my opinion it was worse than its first year. I did feel that the effects got pretty awesome near the end of the attraction though, the beginning just felt a bit dull before the effects started to take off.
Darkness was the Darkness, never been on it before and it was fun but I don't know what else to say on it.
I thought the Zombiewood express was great, I don't know if it was the two year break or if they just changed more this year but the thing felt more polished than I remember and felt like the props and effects have all made a decent improvement other than the animatronic zombies they have.
Blood Bayou was probably the weakest thing at the event for me. There are a few rooms I don't remember that have probably been added in the years that I missed and I did find those very fun. But overall I noticed alot of wear and tear accross the attraction and a huge lack of actors. The set design is still good enough that I'd recommend this one for a first time visitor and the performers that are there are doing a superb job. I just noticed the Grim Reapers hands are in need of at least some repair and almost all the effects kinda fade out near the end of the attraction. I really miss the old flying monsters now or the car that hit that tree. They gotta find things to fill these empty slots and work out a new innovative ending or something.
Most of my friends said that only a few things really changed over last year but I will say overall I had a great time. I'd really like to see Blood Bayou changed up in some substantial way or at least get a decent repair job.

Hey I thought the event was awesome too, a bit crowded but we were expecting that. I felt like Blood Bayou was still very strong from a first-timer's perspective, I think it had the most production value and we got the most scares throughout that maze. It was the only one we went through twice other than 3Dementia, which I also really liked. Speaking of which, I was just listening to an old song and remembered they were playing it in 3Dementia. I appreciated hearing something I recognized (Kill the Noise Pt. 1), but then got to thinking, I wonder what other songs are on the loop? Could anyone else ID any other songs? I thought it was a really strong maze for the artwork and trippy 3D effects alone, but there could have been more scares in that one.
Overall I was really happy with the event, although I would be tempted to go Thursday next time I make it over- you might get just as much done even with less hours to do it in. Probably instead of Fri/Sat I would try Thurs/Fri and go earlier in the month. We went on the 23rd and 24th, and I heard that the 24th was a record night. It showed, but we still got in at opening and were able to get 2 rides on Timber Terror in about 1/2 hour- that was the best time I have ever had on a roller coaster! I got in right behind the front car (so the back of the train as it's traveling backward), and I was laughing and/or screaming the entire time! Airtime was SO great and I felt the positive G's way more since I wasn't distracted by looking at what was coming up. Tremors was also crazy with all the fog and mostly dark, it was way more intense--but somehow also more smooth, maybe the car I was in--than I remember it from a couple months ago.
Super fun time, A+ job to everyone involved. I will be back, though I think next year I'll just do the park in the summer and not Scarywood, but in a couple years I would love to come back!

I think Saturdays are always the most crowded. I'm never quite sure weather the event is more crowded earlier in the month or later. I always shoot for earlier since it can get pretty cold later. I didn't really have issues with crowds on my visit so it's good to hear that it was crowded later in the month as I really want the event to do well.
I'm glad you enjoyed Blood Bayou, it's just become a trickier one for me as a repeat visitor. I always recommend it to people who visit for the first time but I feel like as a repeat customer it's showing its wear and needs a boost of some sort.
I'm actually glad it isn't left open year round and held off only for Scarywood. Helps keep the attraction special.
