With Silverwood currently in the process of redevelopment and expansion, I thought it would be fun to "reboot" Silverwood Theme Park using the land they currently own. In this writing exercise I will be using the budget of an ownership group slightly richer than the Norton's, but no where near a Disney, Universal or large chain budget. I think a fair comparison would be a pre-corporate ownership of Knott's Berry Farm. Let's Begin!
The "new" Silverwood would have the theme of a Victorian western town with mythological elements and is next to a Native Village. There would be three lands: Silverwood, a Native American Celebration Village and Land of Fantastical Creatures.
Silverwood would be the main part of the park and would include the following: Victorian Main Street, Lindy's restaurant with an old fashioned airplane water fountain photo op, shops, a train ride around the park (no robbery), The Apple Orchard Theater where stage performances would be held(TOI), a wild west stunt show(in the area next to the cafe), Silver Rush a family dark ride coaster (former ice palace), and The Silverwood Interactive Theater which would be home to stage shows that require audience participation(MST)and the carousel.
There would be two sub-areas: Tinywood and Country Carnival
Tinywood would feature all the attractions it has today, an addition of a meet and greet area for park characters and a new dancing balloon ride that would replace the flying elephant, red baron and helicopter rides.
Country Carnival would remain the same except for SpinCycle moving to this area and being renamed Twist of Fate. A new Ferris wheel with led lights would be added to the area while Sky diver and the old Ferris wheel would be removed.
The next land would be called the Land of Fantastical Creatures and would be the thrill section of the park. This area would be home to a dark ride called Dark Forest where guests board gargoyle vehicles and hunt trolls, evil fairies and other creatures in a trackless laser dark ride(log flume), enter Dragon Country (RCA) where guests are in the middle of a war between Timber Terror(representing the forest dragon), Tremors(representing the dirt dragon) and Sky Fury (A re-themed Aftershock representing the sky dragon). Dragon Canyon(Thunder Canyon) is the home of serpent dragons and guests would encounter some of them during the ride. Dragon Wars would be a HUSS Suspended Top spin ride that would have fire and water effects simulating the battle between the fire and ice dragons. Panic Plunge would keep its name, but be re-themed to a dragon look out tower that falls when dragons try to attack the observers. This area would also be home to a spinning coaster called Griffin Rage. This area would be heavily themed with mythological creature statues, eggs and foot prints.
The third area would replace Boulder Beach and would be a tribute to northwest native American tribes. The native named area would feature a sit down restaurant/museum showcasing native culture, a stand-up coaster named Roar of Sasquatch, a gyro tower named Totem, a swing ride named the Dream Catcher, a new log ride named Scenic Falls which would have two drops and include static and animatronic props of northwest animals, and Thunderbird Peak a themed shoot the chute ride and a wild mouse coaster called The Coyote.
Any thoughts? I would love to read your ideas for your vision of a reboot of Silverwood.
