This is the place for all of the news, rumors, ideas and comments for Scarywood 2013. I expect a Season of Reckoning for the fifth anniversary of Scarywood.

What does that mean?
A refresh does seem like it'd be needed especially for the scare zones. It's too bad Oddities area is so bright partially because of the rides it sits near or I'd even suggest swapping locations with the clown zone. Oddities could benefit from a more centralized area and the clowns could do better with a narrow more linear walkspace to run the gambit. Overall though things just need to be changed up a bit.
The front area of the park itself could maybe do with some newer set dressing, maybe embrace the military theme with the train ride and set up things to look more like an evacuation zone. I keep feeling like they need a clock fixture or some form of automated theming. I noticed the train station itself was actually less themed when I went as it was minus the Zombie Hunters Posters. Kinda too bad as I think there is still room for theming like that in the park though maybe not in the station area due to how quickly people need to pass through that part of the park.
I've really got to stick with my suggestions for the Magic theater I made last year, I still think that area could be dressed up better. I liked the Scarywood shirts this year but miss the blood splattered shirts from 2010. Its kinda too bad they don't have anything too character or attraction specific to sell.
Returning to my idea of a doomsday clock it just feels like a central clock could be built around a fountain or something with a blood effect to it. Maybe an automic bomb? I liked that you heard the clock chimes throughout the park so I dunno I just like the idea of something dramatic.
This year felt a bit softer I want to say then 2010 but I'm not sure if I'm hallucinating it or not. A few areas of just mannequin zombies and a strobe light might be fun. I'm just tossing out random ideas now. 3Dementia is a real winner for me so I'm not sure that I expect it to change much. Hopefully Blood Bayou and Terror Canyon can be changed more as they both didn't feel as bursting with activity this year though I appreciated the incremental improvements to Terror Canyon's design.

Fifth anniversary definitely presents an opportunity for a big change. I think they need to change up Terror Canyon, Zombiewood Express, and Blood Bayou a lot for next year. 3Dementia could stay mostly the same, since it was so new.
I found myself kind of "ho-humming" my way through Terror Canyon and Blood Bayou this year thinking "yeah yeah yeah I've seen all this a few times now". Granted, I loved the extra theming inside terror canyon. But the overall layout hasn't changed much, so you know where everything is and what's going to happen next. Nothing in those attractions scares me anymore. And Zombiewood is still fun, but it's again too much of the same. I think you can get away with the same show on the train during the regular season year over year, but not at a haunt.
It's all too much like seeing a scary movie. The first time it's exciting, fresh, fun, edge-of-your seat, and creepy. Second time you might still jump at a few moments. By the third or fourth time, it's lost its 'scare factor'. Same goes for a theme park haunt.
I'd like to see them take on some new concepts for theming. One that jumps to mind right away is bugs/spiders. To date, "Curse of the Spider" at Knott's Scary Farm was the maze that has scared me more than any other I've ever been on, because I hate spiders. It's no longer there, but I'd like to see Silverwood do something with the creepy-crawly critters.

Chris Tortora(Marshal Jack) has joined the creative team for Scarywood 2013. I think this is a great step in improving character/story development for the event.

For what it's worth, on the Scarywood site the attractions page simply reads "NEW Attractions for 2013". Unlike the previous years where they had the previous attractions listed and changed them up when it got closer to the season.

I was curious if the 3Dementia building is still standing but not opperating now or if it's something that they took down and removed and will be rebuilt again when Halloween starts moving in.
I'll be really excited if Scarywood gets a significant retool. I'm hoping they do alot of planning to make the most effective use of their actors as the increasing crowds can really dilute the scares if planning isn't done properly.

Instead of writing original ideas for this event like I have done in the past, I have decided to give hints of what is coming this year by writing cryptic statements. These statements will be based on things that I have been able to confirm will happen this year and if I am wrong or the idea has been scrapped I will inform you guys of that before the event begins. I will make a statement every week or two and these clues could be about any part of Scarywood including: the creative team, new houses/rethemed houses, scarezones, characters and shows. I will reveal how these statements relate to Scarywood after the official event press release has been made by Silverwood in late September. I hope this will be fun and will spark a great discussion. Here are three statements to discuss:
Cryptic Statement 1: Something Twisted is working on their Toybox
Cryptic Statement 2: They're dead...they're all messed up
Cryptic Statement 3: What's that smell? It smells like something died here. What ever it is, it's not human.
I will not confirm or deny your theories until September. Have fun.

I was hoping to continue this throughout the summer, but I don't want to burn bridges with anyone at Silverwood so I am going to cease giving hints. I will say that with the new creative team Silverwood has brought together, Silverwood and the Scarywood event have a bright future. I won't give any further hints toward the actual haunts themselves, but I will leave three hints of things Silverwood plans to do to enhance the Scarywood experience.
Cryptic Statement 4: Picture This! Cryptic Statement 5: A different point of view Cryptic Statement 6: Your welcome and good-bye
This year will be awesome. Get ready!
