Word on the street is that Scarywood is going to do a "Zombie Paintball" course out in the woods. Not sure if this will incorporate maze elements or if this will be opened up, but you can deffinately look forward to that. Heard that there were going to be several other new haunts this year, however I haven't been clued into what those other haunts may be.

^ I'll admit it's rather amusing hearing about the Zombie Paintball attraction, especially considering I know several haunts here in Washington debuting a version of their own as well this year. (The one I work at, and apparently the new competition across the street is having one as well.) It seems like Zombie Paintball is the new hot ticket this year, though on the plus side it seems like Silverwood is the first theme park haunt to do it.
A little while back I sent a email of suggestions for improving Mind Warp to SW, and they replied with a mention that they are working on a new attraction. It could be the Zombie Paintball, or it could be something else. Either way, the park is getting something new. An' judging from their reply, I'd say Mind Warp is returning.

I wonder how Zombie Paintball would work? A new attraction would be great Would Zombie Paintball help counterbalance the train? I guess it all adds up. Either way hearing of one more attraction sounds great. Hopefully Mindwarp is expanded well and that whatever new things they have planned can help level up the event again

I don't see how Zombie paintball would be practical at a theme park. You would have to make sure the guest were well covered. You would have to constantly be rotating people out. It just doesn't seem like it would work well in a theme park setting.

I would think the liability issues around zombie paintball would be a nightmare for the park. I just can't see how this is safe. Too much risk of the guest getting hurt. Maybe it would work at a local haunt, but at a major theme park it just doesn't seem to be the most practical thing to add. I guess time will tell…

Interesting update I noticed today over at the Scarywood site - Mind Warp has been removed from the list of haunts, and in its place it just says that there will be a new attraction to be announced soon.
I also noticed that Terror Canyon's description no longer mentions the "Freak Farm" - wondering if they're going with a different theme this year? That would be a good thing - they gotta keep changing things up - that's what keeps it interesting!
I also think that Zombie Paintball sounds like an absolute nightmare (no pun intended) for a theme park. I can't see how this would work logistically, other than just having the guests shoot the zombies in a "shooting gallery" fashion. It sounds interesting, but not something I would go to a theme park haunt for.

Well there goes my thought that Mind Warp is returning, should be interesting to see what the new attraction is. I also noticed that tickets arn't on sale yet, with them no longer saying they would be on sale on the 15th.
I also found it interesting with the little description change to Terror Canyon, yet the descriptions for both Blood Bayou and Zombiewood Express remained the same. I have a feeling when the new attraction is announced, the descriptions for the others will change once again.
On the topic of Zombie Paintball, here's how I know other places do it. It's more like a ride with the guests being in a tractor trailer, the paintball guns are fixed onto one side of the trailer so the guests can only shoot outside and not at each other. They're given a limited amount of ammo and are driven out to various locations where they shoot at targets, pop ups and padded live zombies.
That could be a way the park could do it, though we'll have to wait and see if they're doing it at all.

^I guess when explained that way it makes more sense to me. I could see that potentially being a lot of fun - especially if they used the area out by the air strip. Sounds a lot like an interactive dark ride (hmmm...haven't we heard that suggestion before? I also heard one rumor that the paintball might be incorporated with the train ride. Either way - I still see this as a HUGE logistical problem. With the crowds that Scarywood draws each night, I can't imagine how they will be able to accomodate everyone who wants to do this. Think of the number of guns and ammo that would be required! The only way I can see it being possible is to either drastically reduce the amount of people allowed to participate per day, or make it an up-charge attraction. Otherwise, you've got a serious problem on your hands with rider through-put. If it really is part of the train show - well, I can't even begin to think of all the issues that could create. The train already is one of the slowest, most painful lines at Scarywood. Imagine how bad it would be with the paintball guns, not to mention people fighting over a seat for one. Re-loading for each ride, getting people situated, etc. are all things that would slow that attraction down even worse than it is now. But it would sure be a one of a kind attraction. In any case, I'm very interested to see what the announcement will end up being, and glad to hear that new ideas are being tossed around.

if Zombie paintball is done I'm kinda hoping its set off into its own area and kept from taking too much away from the rest of the haunt. There's just no way I can see it not being an upcharge event and the Haunt feels like it needs to grow just a bit capacity wise this year.
