Well since now is the time for theme parks to be shifting gears from Summer to Haunt, I might as well put up the info for this years Fright Fest at Wild Waves.
So here's their line up, straight from the site. www.wildwaves.com/frightfest.aspx
-" The SCREAM FACTORY Haunted House is bigger and badder then ever before with an extended indoor/outdoor maze with over 20 rooms total terror! "
-" NEW! Beware of SCARE ZONES located throughout the park "
- " NEW!HallowRock Show Reunion of Souls : Rock The Dead - The Zombies of the past come out to Rock & thrash to the hottest rock and metal sounds of the underworld! "
- " NEW! DJ Ghoul and the Gang Show - DJ Ghoul is getting the Monster Mash started. To get this Graveyard rockin' he's looking for the most disturbing dancers to join his ghoulish gang. "
- " BOOVILLE is back! Our not so scary, trick-or-treat town opens from 5 to 7pm especially for little boys and ghouls under for 4 tall. "
- " NEW! Bob the Builder Meet & Greet "
I have to say this is very interesting, especially since there's no word of a second haunted attraction.
For the past two years the park has tried having a second haunt, two years ago they had the "Trail of Terror", a campground haunt over in the picnic area to the far right of Timberhawk. While it had it's flaws it was decent.
Now last year the park didn't even mention they did away with the Trail of Terror and replaced it with the "Saw Mill Slaughterhouse" which was located in the station of Lumberjack Falls. Unfortuntly, the Saw Mill was just a maze with minor theming, a dud that made the event repetitive due to Scream Factory having a maze at the end.
So it looks like the park is dropping a second haunted attraction all together, oh well.
Now with Scream Factory, I will give it to the park that they do make sure to change things up every year...which is very well appreciated. Hopefully it'll be better then last year, since I felt last year's version was pretty weak.
As for the additions of scare zones, FINALLY. Seriously, the park does have good spots to have a scare zone. Now way back they tried having a scare zone called the "Street of Screams", however it was just a "one way" path that you could only experience after you went through the main haunted house. It wasn't like an actual scare zone like in Silverwood where you could go through it as many times as you want. Hopefully for this year it's a free-roam affair.
As for the shows, while they sound pretty cheesy at least they're trying something.
Hopefully this year will be better then last, though I admit it won't need to do much since for me last year was the weakest I've ever seen the event.
