Has anyone noticed that they got rid of "Steamer" and two of the original conductors for the train? I know to some people they didn't like him.. but i'd MUCH prefer to listen to the sound of a REAL persons voice rather than a recording. Steamer added a whole new dimension to the train with the way he interacted with people before the train left and heck the robbery isnt even the same without him.. I wish i knew what happened.. Does anyone know?

Was that the guy who rode with you and narrated your trip? I liked him. How do you know they got rid of him? Maybe he decided not to come back? Regardless, the lack of a live person narrating would be a big negative IMO. Hopefully the recording is just a temporary fix until a live narrator returns.

I suppose non of you here are members of the Facebook Silverwood group? Usually nothing happens there but a few months back there was a guy on there claiming to be the narrator to the train ride saying that they were getting rid of the conductor roll for the train and replacing it with a recording. He was proposing a write in complaint thing I think.
Myth has it that the recording used for Scarywood was a test to see if a recorded speil would work out. The guy also rumored that they were considering getting rid of the hold up but decided not to.

yes he was the guy who stood in the back and narrated it. and i heard some workers talking about it and about how its not the same with him gone, and how they're sad they got rid of him he used to live in a town near me for YEARS before he started there, and we rode the last train of the season last year. and he was talking about still being there. so i know he wouldn't not want to come back, he loved that park, and he loved the people.
i havent been to scarywood. but i bet you it would've been better if they had him workin it (:
whats next? are the rides going to be ran by robots?

I don't mind the general idea of specialized sound for that attraction but the recorded spiel went on and on making unfunny jokes and never letting the atmosphere soak in. Anywho I wouldn't care so much about a park ran by robots if Silverwood had started adding a darkride or some other area of the park with some story or personal touch to it. Getting rid of live narriration kinda pulls it out of the quaint unique catagory and moves it onto the technical path. But the park has no real technical substance. I REALLY think the next moves for Silverwood should be how to provide small bits of story in areas of the park.

It sounds like Silverwood has hired Paul Pressler.

^We will know for sure when they get rid of the entire train and turn the station into a gift shop.

Just got back from a trip to the park...the recording wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it was definitely different without Steamer. I was surprised at how much of the recording was exactly the same as what he used to say - jokes and all. I don't know if he was the one who originally came up with everything, but it was still strange to me.
I'd like to know who came up with the name - Cooper McGillicutty??? Wow...
