Update time!
Today was rather interesting, since The Forbidden Journey opened for TM's to preview! However, it didn't last long. Shortly after it opened, it went down for several hours and those who were on the ride had to be evac'd.
So while there were TM's that did get on the ride, at the moment we have no idea if they were able to experience the whole thing. The only two reports I got was from one that got on the ride, but it broke down 10 seconds in...and the other report was from one who was in the queue line, yet all the lights went out when the ride broke down.
To make matters more interesting, somebody sent Orlando Attractions Magazine a "detailed story" of the Forbidden Journey. However it was quickly proven a fake, since the person didn't describe the movements of the ride, or mention key scenes that Universal confirmed would be in the ride, and the story itself became very vauge in the end like they didn't know how to end it.
Now for tomorrow Universal will be opening the land for those who bought a special vacation package they were selling, so there's probably going to be a good smorgasborgh of reviews tomorrow...however there might be no reviews of the Forbidden Journey, we'll just have to wait and see.
Oh yes, one more thing. During the TM previews, people were able to try out the test seat for the Forbidden Journey. Now I'm getting a lot of word that a lot of big guys won't be able to fit in the regular seat due to the restraint.
Now there will be "big boy" seats made for the ride, however don't expect them to be put on the ride till later. At the moment Universal is making sure all 47 robotic arms are working properly.
*Another Update!*
Ok, over on behind the thrills they put up a podcast which does add some legit info on Forbidden Journey and the preview that happened today.
Apparently it was technical problems that caused the breakdown, and that it was up and running for about 30 minutes. Because of that, there have been a good amount of TM's that have experienced the whole thing.
Not surprisingly, those who did experience it have to keep their mouth shut on the juicy details of the ride. Though people have said this, the ride is "Surprisingly scary, has a lot of in your face effects, plenty of detail so you'll have to re-ride to see everything...and there are effects which are on their own robotic arm."
TM's have also pointed out it's tricky to compare it to another ride, mainly since there's nothing else like it.
Uhh, Disney? I think you're falling behind on raising the bar for dark rides.
