This thing looks awesome.
I am especially pumped to see if the ride in the castle is all the rumors have it cracked up to be. I am a bit worried because last time Universal hyped something this big it was the mummy coaster which turned out, in my opinion, to be a dud.
But something tells me this is the real deal.
Anybody plan on going?
Thoughts?

I'll certainly want to check it out, though not soon to opening since I know the Forbidden Journey will have it's fair share of kinks to work out.
But from what I've been reading, it should be a doozy of an attraction.
Warning, possible spoilers ahead! I say possible since I have no idea if any of these things are confirmed, except for one.
If the rumors are true, it's going to be a whole new version of Disney's Indiana Jones. The main difference will be the mode of transport.
The mode of transport will be a Kuka Robotic arm that holds 4 abreast, the arm is running on a bus bar track (Like Spiderman).
The loading area is the Great Hall, and they will be calling your vehicle a "enchanted bench".
The moving robotic arm will take you through plenty of scenes with animatronics, here's a run down on what's been said.
-Giant Chess Scene with Chess Piece animatronics -Lair of the Basilisk, with Basilisk Animatronic (This is the only thing I know that's true, there are pictures of Giant Snake Head stautes. They look just like the ones in the film.) -Forest scene with Aragog animatronic and a crapload of spiders. -Whomping Willow scene. -Possible Quiddich scene.
End possible spoilers
It should be pretty exciting to see how this all turns out, and which rumors are true and which ones were fluff.

IMHO the Mummy wasn't a dud attraction, but it has not been able to fill the big shoes of Kong.
The WWHP is themed very well and the Forbidden Journey has the potential to be a classic, but I will miss the originality of Lost Continent.

I have only been on the mummy coaster in California, and I know the Florida one is supposed to be much better. I'll agree I didn't think it was a dud, but it certainly was nothing to get too excited about.
I'm in no way ashamed to admit that I am a big Harry Potter fan, so I am very excited for the new land to open. I think the themeing looks awesome, and the few things I've heard about what it will be like sound great to me. I honestly don't know too much about all the details, but I think this will be a huge draw, and very well received.

I think it looks great! I'm a big fan of the books so it will be fun to actually get "inside" the story.
I've actually been hearing the new ride will be more like Spider Man than Indy in the way it is disigned but that could be totally wrong, of course.
I completely agree with Bud about Mummy. I honestly don't think I've ever been more dissapointed in a ride in my life. And it was much more because of the hype, not the ride actually being bad. I just expected MUCH more. I'm judging the California version, also, which I know is weaker than the Florida one. I think the Harry Potter ride will live up to the hype much better. That is really the only thing "new" in that whole land, other than the buildings. Every other ride has just been re-named.
Call me a Harry Potter geek (and I am), but I think I'm most excited about trying butter beer!

Well more and more things have been coming in about WWOHP, some of them pretty exciting...and one thing being a bit of a bummer.
I'll start off with the bummer, right now at the moment a lot of things in Dueling Dragons queue line have been stripped away. No more frozen or charred knights, no more mass collection of bones with warnings from the dragons. It's mainly just a set of caves now.
Now I have been hearing the beginning of the queue has some new additions that are really good, however we'll have to wait and see since the beginning of the queue isn't opened to the public yet.
Now for the good things I've been hearing and seeing, a few weeks ago a picture of the vehicles for the Forbbiden Journey was leaked out. The ride is certainly going to be a Kuka robotic arm on a bus bar (Same as Spiderman) track.
The seats are dressed as a bench, so in a way this really is "Bench:The Ride."
As for what's going on with the ride, it sounds like it's going to be a whole smorgasborgh of sets, video screens and animatronics.
I've also been hearing the finale will be a face to face encounter with the Dementors, compleate with the area being very cold and a dementor or two on kuka arms to really get up close and personal with everyone.
Finally, a odd note. Apparently there's word that the length of the ride will be four minutes...and some enthusiasts are complaining about it. (One person thought it would be around 10 minutes long.)
Ummm...people, why is four minutes suddenly something to gripe about? Four minutes hasn't stopped Indy and Spiderman from being some of the best darkrides ever created.
Seriously, I've seen enthusiasts gripe about plenty of things...but this is one of the oddest things I've heard people gripe about.

I haven't been following this. Where is the ride going to be located?

Universal Islands of Adventure.
Check out Screamscape for details and behind the scenes stuff (www.screamscape.com)
As mentioned, the details of the ride are still a big secret, but it is a Kuka Robocoaster. Basically think of an elaborate dark ride, combined with some simulator-screen experience, combined with a single-vehicle inverted roller coaster (overhead track) that can pivot and rotate about every direction possible.
Now theme it elaborately to Harry Potter and place it inside Hogwarts castle smack in the middle of an entire Harry Potter themed "land" and you've potentially got the themed ride to end all themed rides.
Seriously, at this point, it looks like this one has the potential to make Disney look like they are falling behind the times. I for one plan to be there to ride it next year...

Well things have gotten pretty exciting, for the past few days Universal has been having sneak previews for travel companies and TM's (Team Members *aka* employees)
Now for the sneak previews Universal has been doing a strict "No Pictures" rule, while a few pics have been leaked out...for the most part security has been preventing plenty of pictures to be taken.
With that said, overall everyone is really impressed with the land. Over at Hogsmeade there are plenty of unique little touches that make it worth checking out over and over, from what I hear just about every storefront has some kind of animatronic such as a chocolate frog, flowers that come to life, a quill writing on it's own etc.
When it comes to drinks, I hear Butterbeer is pretty good, and it's sold as a liquid or frozen. Other drinks availible are Pumpkin Juice which I also hear is good and Hogs Head Brew. (The only alcoholic drink of the bunch)
There's also a good amount of live entertainment such as a Frog's Choir.
Now as for the rides,
For Flight of the Hippogryph, apparently the rumors are true that there is a animatronic Hippogryph that you'll be able to bow to. Not to mention Hagrid will explain how and you'll also be able to hear Fang barking when you go by Hagrid's Hut.
For Dragon's Challenge, apparently Universal did do a nice job of retheming DD's queue line. There are dragon eggs, floating candles, and in the station there are projections of dragons fighting above you.
Now as for The Forbidden Journey...well so far the ride isn't open for previews yet. However Universal is letting people go through half of the queue line to get a taste of what's to come, apparently there are plenty of neat special effects in the queue line alone...and it's long. From what I hear it took about 20 minutes to walk through the section people were allowed to go through.
I can imagine the next few weeks will be interesting, especially when people are allowed to ride the Forbidden Journey.

Everytime I hear something new about this place, I get more and more excited to check it out. I just hope it lives up to the hype! I'm anxious to hear how people respond to the area when it opens to the general public.
