I figured we should start a thread of Aftershock reviews for those who have visited and either watched or ridden the ride. This would be an ideal place for your thoughts and comments - whether about the ride, the crowds, up/down time, etc. You don't necessarily have to have ridden Aftershock to post here - you can just comment about what you observed. Curious to get as much info as possible! I've got a trip planned in about three weeks and will comment when I return. (P.S. - with this thread I graduate to three stars with 200 posts. )

Ok so I rode Aftershock yesterday July 23rd. I will preface my so called review with some facts..... - I am not a Vekoma fan
- I do not care for any sit down boomerang
- I actually don't mind the invertigo models at all (been on all 3 in the US)
- I have ridden the one at SFMM a few years ago.
- Tried to get this credit in 2003 when it was at SFGAM (not running)
With all that I actually don't mind the ride at all. It is by far one of the smoothest Vekoma's around and I ended up riding it twice. I rode on the 3rd train of the day in the 3rd row outer seats and waited about 10 minutes in line. I rode in the afternoon and waited less for a ride in the 2nd row inside seat. I am not a huge fan of being pulled up the tower backwards and having all my weight on the restraints, but other than that, I will surely ride it again although nowhere near as much as the woodies. I also noticed that there were seatbelts in addition to the OTSR with belt strap. I don't know if this is new or if it's always had them (can't remember from DejaVu @ SFMM). Suprisingly the ride doesn't look half bad considering it operated a few seasons and was dismantled and reassembled. Anyway to those who have ridden one before I'm sure you will feel the same way about this one. - Baarry

I found Aftershave...oops..Aftershock to be an incredible and worthy addition to Silverwood. The ride waits were remarkably short, with a 30 minute wait at most. Being only a few days after opening, I expected 90 to 100 minute waits! I had an original 20 minute wait and even managed to get several 5 minute waits, going right to the gates. The queue line is very small, much smaller than Timber Terror's queue. As for the loading, I found it to be pretty slow, but at least the line moves quickly...(I'm looking at YOU, Tremors!) As for the gates, there really isn't much choice for what you get, since they let people in by groups, 2 to every line. But, after the tedious loading process, the horn sounds and you leave the station, going straight up. The lift is only about 8 or 9 seconds, and then you plummet ground ward, flying through the station and into 3 inversions. After you climb the second hill, you drop backwards and repeat the whole process again! The first drop is certainly the scariest, and the whole ride gets your adrenaline pumping and wanting more. I just wish it was a little bit longer...

Thanks for the info to those who've shared thus-far - it's all been very interesting!
My apologies for being so quiet lately - I'm glad to hear that the lines haven't been nearly as bad as predicted, and I'm anxious to go to the park to ride in a few weeks. I still can't believe they waited this long to open it, though.
Sounds like they've fixed it up a bit so it isn't as bad as everyone remembers. I guess I'll see when I ride it - I honestly don't remember it being that bad, but it was six years ago that I rode Deja Vu at SFMM.

^ You do realize that by reading the entire article the ride broke down late in the evening (Wed.) and is reopening first thing the next day? (Thurs).
Oh yes, the ride also valleyed in the area it was supposed to in case of a malfunction. Pretty much making the whole thing not really newsworthy. (I've been evacuated from a few rides before, and I've never heard of those incidents in the news the next day later.)

Well, I feel kind of silly for opening a separate thread - not sure how I missed that the story about Aftershock getting stuck had already been posted here, but oh well.
I'm going to agree with wolfblood here - this isn't really that big of a deal, but I just had to laugh when I saw it because, as I said in my other thread, I think we all saw this coming.
But, given that the ride wasn't down very long, they got everyone off quick, plus the fact that this was just due to a faulty sensor (rather than the ride valleying in the cobra roll), I'm not quite convinced that it was a mistake for Silverwood to get it, and that they're doomed to a mechanical nightmare of a ride. If this becomes a regular occurrence, or if the issues get worse, I might change my mind, but not yet.

Look, anyone that has been posting here very long knows that I am not a fan of Aftershock, but, what that coaster did is what EVERY SINGLE BOOMERANG IN THE WORLD does at LEAST two or three times a year. Not just the GIB's. They all do it. Now if it had vallied in the Cobra Roll, that would be a different story.
It is still early but so far Silverwood should be commended for how well they have been able to operate that coaster.

I went to Silverwood yesterday with some friends and I must say, Aftershock was the highlight of the day. I've never been on any of the Deja Vu's so I may sound like just an overexcited noob (excuse me, n00b...isn't that how it's supposed to be spelled?), but it was phenomenal. It opened probably around 15 minutes after the park opened which I thought was unusual but I waited anyway. It was much faster than I expected. I rode once in the very front, and once in the very back. Overall I'm a backseat kind of person, but on Aftershock I've got to give it up to the front seat for delivering an overall more exciting ride, not to mention the best view.
Can't wait to visit the park again next year. It was awfully busy, which was upsetting because I went on a tuesday! Not as bad as weekend but not as light as it's been in past years. I'll try for June next year, might be better.

Good luck with that...
Expect it to be running maybe once a month...

Thanks, but I think the fact that it's not a six flags park operating the ride, we can all expect much less downtime and and overall better reliability. Don't be bitter just because your sweet deja vu runs better than ever before!
