Well, as I'm sure you all know, this Friday on the 15th is the last episode of the Price is Right with Bob Barker as the host. CBS is showing it at the normal time in the morning, and again at 8:00 in the evening. Since I've been out sick for the past month, I've had the chance to start watching the show again, and it's brought back a lot of memories.
I gotta say, I'm going to miss Bob Barker a lot. And I have a lot of respect for the guy. You can totally tell that he just loves his job every day that he does it. To me and many others, he's just like a grandpa...this nice old guy I've grown up with for so long. He's definitely one of the biggest TV icons in history, IMO.
So, where does the show go from here? They are going to start back up in the fall with a new host (not yet announced who it will be)...who do you think it should be? Or do you think they should even try to continue the show at all? I think that if they do it right, the show could continue and still be big...but I don't think it will ever have the quite same charm as it does now. It's been going for 35 years this way, so it's got a lot of nostalgia.
As one contestant said to Bob a few weeks ago "The price is wrong without you, Bob!". I think there are many out there who feel this way (I sure do!).
Thoughts?

If done properly, the show can survive with the right new host...as long as he's not trying to be Bob Barker II. It probably can't ever be as popular as it has been with Bob, but certainly it can continue being successful. There is no other show like it.
Bob Barker will be missed. I'm in my early 30's and can remember watching this from the time I was a baby. He's done a great job.

Well, I heard it was announced that Drew Carey is going to take Bob's place. I hadn't thought of him as being the new MC, but thinking it through, I actually don't think this is a bad pick. He's very good at impromptu stuff, so I think he'll be great at just playing along with the contestants, and he doesn't seem like the type to try and copy everything Bob did...I think he'll do good at making the show his own and having fun with it in his own way.
The show still won't ever be the same again without Bob, but I think this could work...

The new season of 'the Price is Right" with Drew Carey will be starting on October 15th. I'm kind of excited to see how well he does.

^I was sick last week and watched a rerun - they were running promos for the new show with Drew. I think I'm going to have to record the first one to see how it is. I think he'll do a good job, but it will definitely be different.
