I don't like the new guy as much. He was trying WAY too hard, and his tricks were more what I'd expect from a Silverwood-sized park.
Which is not a good thing.
Nick Norton was in such a different league...it was a highlight of the park to be able to see what I consider to be a near Vegas-calliber magician at Silverwood. I guess its no surprise he's not there anymore...probably took off for better money (which I'm sure he deserves).
Anyhoo, I'll miss Nick and only hope that the new guy improves with time.

I don't think I could have said it better myself. The new guy just didn't seem to fit the role of a magician very well. It felt to me like they pulled some guy out of the local high school drama club and taught him a bunch of tricks in just a few minutes.
Nick Norton was way better, and Silverwood should keep him around as long as they can.
I never actually saw the magic show until a few years ago, but I had some family members see it a long long time ago. From what I heard, Nick's show wasn't all that great way back then and has dramatically improved over time, so maybe this new guy will do the same.

Hmmm...I just saw something pretty interesting today looking at the website, instead of the new magician it showed Nick Norton!
It also said Nick is SW's resident magician so that is very nice as well, even though the last time I saw Nick was a couple of years ago I can agree with everyone else that Nick works at SW very well.

I have never went to any park in my life to see a show and Silverwood is no different. I haven't seen the magic show or the ice show so I couldn't say one way or the other.

^I never go to a park for that purpose either, but I've been to SW so much that I started going to the shows regularly just to change things up a bit. The shows at SW are pretty good, actually. Much better than the one at EF!  |

The show at EF is by far the worst show I have ever seen. I was there only for my kids and it was so bad I left my wife to suffer through the last half on her own while I walked around taking some pictures and video. I'm such a great father and husband!

Skylark, next time you're at SW, try the ice show, and (if Nick Norton is performing) the magic show.
I can relate to you - shows are about the last thing I want to do when I go to a theme park, but trust me, you won't be disappointed with these two at SW. They have quite a huge "wow" factor. No Fantasmic, but definitely something worth your time.

Nick Norton does shows whenever he feels like it and Kenneth K just does the show at SW whenever Nick is taking a day off. I like Nick's shows better, I do agree, but Kenneth K isn't that bad. Besides, Kenny is a better street magician than a stage magician. Both guys are pretty cool to hang out with, though. You also have to take into consideration that Kenneth K is only 20 years old and more or less just breaking into the business. It's an art that takes time and patiance to master. Nick has been doing the shows a lot longer than Kenny has. If I were you, I'd just give Kenny a break and if you don't like his show, don't watch it.

We'll, since we're talking about Kenneth K and his show compared to Nick Norton, I wanted to point this blog post out. They go into the details of how Kenneth K started at Silverwood. As I said in my post - I heard Nick wasn't that good several years ago, and has improved over time. I don't doubt that Kenneth will get better over time - we'll just have to see. But I still stand by what I said in that Nick's show was much better.
If Nick ever does leave, it needs to be a ways down the road. I agree with Bud in that it was very unique to see such an impressive magic show at such a small park. Making a dramatic switch to someone noticeably less skilled wouldn't be a good move, IMHO. I'd say wait until Kenneth gets better and then let him take the ropes, if that's what the long-term goal is.
And trust me, I wasn't planning on seeing his show for at least a couple of years.
