Well since Silverwood has put an official Scarywood page on their website I'd thought I'd make a official thread with all the details and whatnot.
http://www.silverwoodthemepark.com/scarywood.php
Daytime family activities-
Days will be filled with family-fun and activities with the park being decorated in a Halloween theme. Kids will be able to decorate their own Halloween cookies, trick or treat along the Garfield trail and participate in a costume contest with prizes awarded for first, second and third best costumes each day. The top ten costume winners will then compete for a grand prize of a 2010 Gold Season Pass with the other nine first place winners receiving a 2010 single season pass.
Contest open to children ages 12 or younger. NO COSTUMES ALLOWED for guests 13 years of age or older.
Scarywood Haunts Come to Life-
On Saturday nights, the park will transform into Scarywood Theme Park consisting of two chilling attractions. Thunder Canyon raft ride will become Terror Canyon Trail complete with fog, graveyards, Sasquatch, zombies, vampires and more. The mild-mannered Steam Engine No. 7 train will become the MidFRIGHT Express a ghost and ghoul ride of terror. Nighttime haunted attractions are NOT recommended for children 12 and under.
In addition, imagine the thrill of riding Timber Terror and Tremor in the dark at night as well as many of Silverwood's other attractions
As for admission, it's $20.49 for general admission....however if you want to experience the haunted attractions it's $27.49 (That's all day admission with the haunted attractions.)
So it's only $7 extra for both attractions, now I've noticed on Facebook there are already whiners on the subject of an extra charge. But as Silverwood pointed out, $7 is cheaper for two attractions then other local haunts. (For myself, it's certainly cheaper then the $13 I had to pay for 1 local haunt here in Washington that to be honest wasn't as good as it was last year.)
Silverwood also pointed out the reason for the $7 extra is due to the fact there's a limited number of people that can experience the attractions each night. I have a feeling that if they get more dates in the future and not just every Saturday, then the extra charge may go away.
Now another thing I might see people whining about is the fact that you only go through both attractions once. Let's compare that to another haunt of it's size, Fright Fest at Wild Waves. It's has two haunts, and for all the times I've been there....I could only go through the attractions once. Now last year they said it would be possible to go through them a second time if the crowds were low, however with that event...it's not happening.
So for me, I'm totally fine with the extra charge and only able to go through once.
As for the attractions, It's going to be very interesting to see how they turn out. For MidFRIGHT Express, I'm looking to see how much they'll theme it. Will they only do the theming at the show stop? Or will they also theme up the forest leading to it?
As for Terror Canyon Trail, this is probably more intriguing due to the fact this is unlike any other rethemed rapids ride I've known. All the rapid rides I've seen transformed into a Haunted attraction are like this.
1- It's just the ride with skeletons scattered about and the water is turned red.
or
2- The water is drained and a maze is built inside it. However, all the rapid rides that have this kind of transformation were the flat kind where there's no real change of terrain.
If Silverwood is doing transformation 2, then it should be interesting since we all know that's a terrain rapids ride. Though I have to admit I'm cracking up at the description of it since it mentions Sasquatch, I remember a while back one of the members here wanted something with Bigfoot for a Halloween event. Well it looks like we got it!

The $7 upcharge is completely reasonable in my mind, especially considering the $20 gate charge. Tell me another theme park of Silverwood's quality that charges only $20 for an all day pass. (There may be some, tell me!)
As far as the attractions go, I think the train has the potential to be completely awesome. Silverwood's train wandering out into the forest at night...I mean come on. That in and of itself is freaky. They could really create something amazing and unique with this one.
As far as Thunder Canyon is concerned - I was under the impression that the event would be in the queue for the ride - not the ride itself. (I don't know too many who want to ride a water ride at night in October in N. Idaho...FREEZING!) But perhaps it is in the drained ride itself...we'll see.
This entire event has me really curious...it will be great to see what Silverwood does...

If the park does theme up the forest for the train it will most certainly be awesome, many theme parks don't have their trains going through such a large forest where there's already a nice atmosphere to use. They can just hang a bunch of glowing pumkins and the effect will be very nice.
As for Thunder Canyon, there is a possibility the queue line will be used. However, if there going to have a maze the queue line isn't enough. I think we will be able to get a good idea what it's going to be in a couple weeks. If the ride is closed in September, then I think we can safely say it's closed so they can build the maze.
Looking at the calander for September, for the most part after the first week the park only going to be open on the weekends...so there's plenty of time for them to do some serious work.

Anyone complaining about a $7 upcharge needs to attend another Halloween event. It just goes to show how competely out of touch most of Northern Idaho/Western Washington is when it comes to theme parks. Id' be tempted to go just so I could get into the park for 20 bucks and ride the woodies at night in 45 degree temps.

I'm with you 65skylark. I think the price is just fine for the coasters. It should be a lot of fun.

I am very excited to check out this event this year. I agree with everyone about the price - $7 is completely reasonable. When I went to the Haunt at Knott's a few years ago, you paid full price to get into the park during the day, then you had to pay a completely separate price to get back in at night for the Haunt. And those tickets for the Haunt entry were MORE expensive than regular park tickets. So for one day and evening at Knott''s Halloween event, you paid more than twice the price of a regular ticket. So...half price entry for the entire park plus Halloween stuff? No complaining here!
I agree that the queue is too short for anything decent at Thunder Canyon, and I also agree that they would be crazy to have the raft ride itself be open in October at night - who would want to do that? I'm thinking the ride will be drained and used for the maze, but I suppose we'll see.
I am VERY excited for the train...I can only imagine what surprises they will have for that. This is very exciting, and I am glad Silverwood is jumping on board with this event!

Silverwood just added one more thing for prices, if your a season pass holder or have a prepurcashed ticket...you just have to pay $7 to get the tickets for the Haunted Attractions.
Either way, chances are I will be attending this event. While it's a little tricky considering it's only on Saturday and I don't drive, and my Mom is off on alternating weekends, the fact that we can get to Silverwood in around 4 hours does give us a good chance of going.
If we do go, I'll make sure to take plenty of pictures since this is probably the biggest "testing the waters" for a Halloween event I've seen.

While I can't disclose details for what will happen this year for Scarywood, I can confirm that the Terror Canyon Trail will indeed take place inside (or on top of) of the flume itself.
I'm really excited for the Halloween Haunt event, me and a bunch of friends from work plan on going in a group which should be fun. From what I've heard, this event will truely be worth the price, and should prove to be popular.

Yes, the water will be drained from Thunder Canyon to make the Terror Canyon Trail. I don't know if the boards that create the rapids will be removed, or if a boardwalk will be built over them.
I am looking forward to seeing the train!
Also I have hear rumors that they are working on a new Halloween themed magic show in a newly decorated Theater of Illusion!
